Slimier than an American Eel?? Those things are soooo slimey.

Considering I've caught both - Eels in MA when I lived there, Northerns here in MN

Ya, slimier than Eels.

Sounds like it should be legal to put them on a stringer and eat them

You can definitely eat them - a lot of people do (just not me).  They just have to be dead when you take them from the body of water where you caught them.  Most people favor an old aluminum baseball bat, I carry a folding shovel.

I always thought the blue cats in the Potomac were worse than the snakeheads. Those blues would slims up three feet of line and crush any hooks. Both really good eating though!

It’s kinda weird.  Catfish slime is different from snakehead slime.  When catfish slime dries it’s like Elmer’s glue mixed with cement.  Although snakeheads produce much more slime and it’s much more stinky, it is easy to clean and it dissolves on carpet when it dries.

Yes, yes it is.  More specifically a Northern Snakehead.  Fun to catch, great to eat but a real mess to catch.  They destroy lures, have rows of teeth and are the slimiest thing that swims.

I come down your way to fish tidal bass a couple of times a season. Have yet to ever catch one. Can’t say that I’m trying to target or catch one but it may eventually happen. Was down that way a few weeks ago and the owner at the sports shop was telling me that locals are really starting to target them and they are becoming a common place fish to go after. They are not on any bucket list of mine but hope to have a hook up some day.

I caught one several years ago and hope it is my last.
