thunderblack Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Hey guys, anyone put some time in on one of these? I know the old tidemaster had breakage issues and wanted to know how these hold up. Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Are you looking at a casting, or spinning rod? The only St.Croix multipiece rod I have experience with is their Trumph casting rod. It performs exceptionally well for a four piece rod. It's an SCll version, whereas the Avid Treck is a three piece SClll Quote
thunderblack Posted September 16, 2022 Author Posted September 16, 2022 spinning in avid trek is what I am most interested in. Quote
JS8588 Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 You DMed me about this and I haven't owned one yet. I took one of my heavy Legend Treks to Florida in July and a 4 foot barracuda snapped it. I haven't had a chance to call St. Croix about warranty yet but since the Legend Treks are disco'ed, I imagine they'll send me an Avid as recompense. Fortunately, I bought it on clearance at about half price so, I won't really be short changed. Quote
thunderblack Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 Nice! I have checked out Trek before but never pulled the trigger. I figured a few guys would have tried the Avid 3 piece by now but maybe not. Appreciate the reply! Quote
Fishingmickey Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Hello Thunder, I do have the Avid Trek in spinning. I have used it several times. It's a fine rod IMHO. It has a excellent case too. I've used it the last couple of vacations to Maine. It's hard to tell much difference from a one piece rod. FM Quote
thunderblack Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 Thanks FM! That is most helpful! 7' or 7-6 model? Quote
