So like a lot of fishermen I have quite a number of rods and reels. They thing is I have quite a number of duplicate power and actions. I took an inventory last night and want to try and pick the best bass rods from what I have to try and make my available gear more streamlined. So for all the folks on this forum and looking at my rod list below what rods should I set aside and what rods could I do without? Thanks for reading.

Personally

Casting: Drop the 6'0" rod - keep the rest ...so many techniques for the M/F and MH/F that you can have them all rigged with something different.

Spinning: Really all you need for bass fishing is a M/F and a ML/F - the rest can be set aside for panfish/trout.

i would get rid of anything under 7 feet long just to keep it simple.  but that is just me.   use some of the proceeds to buy a Heavy Casting.  :)

I was wondering how long it would take for the first person to respond with this. LOL!!!

Maybe not triple, but, really....what is the problem you are trying to solve?

I don't use ultralight for bass, but even those have their place if you might fish for panfish or trout....or even bass.  My parents used UL for bass, walleye and northerns as they got well into their 70s.

I have that many rods in my car right now and was just wondering whether I shouldn't have loaded another 7MF for jerk baits since the 7MF I have with me is great for <1/2 oz lipless, I find the tip too soft for jerkbaits.

Is every rod the same make and model?  If not, then take some time and throw a wide variety of lures on each.  Two different MHF7' rods can be very different and you may find you like one for jigs, but the other feels great throwing a chatterbait.

Set aside the rods you don't like and won't use.  Asking us which rods to set aside is not helpful

 Brands?

Bass fishing in my opinion any power under ML and 6’6” should be used for trout or crappie.

This eliminates 6 rods, 1 casting and 5 spinning.

What you fish with most and the cover you’re doing it in will tell you what rods you need. We can’t tell you that. If it were my set and I was streamlining then I’d get rid of all of the spinning rods but one and all of the medium powered casting rods. I don’t use casting rods under a mh really and I practically never use spinning rods. YMMV.

Maybe let the UL rods go, but if you thin the heard any more than that, the Bait Monkey will be nocking at your door, and he may bring the Bass Police with him.

I have to agree with the others.  You don't have near enough rods yet.  I don't know how often you fish for trout or panfish, but in my case I could get rid of 3 of the 4 spinning rods on the bottom.  One of those and a ML spinning rod is all I'd keep if downsizing.  I much prefer a baitcaster if the lure is heavy enough (for me) to use one.

I wanted to try baitcasting when I got back into fishing in '09.  Bought a few 6'6" baitcast rods, but soon discovered I preferred 7' or longer....especially in MH.  I do have a few less than 7' that I like, but they are Medium power or less.

Listing MHF and MF doesn't tell us much.  I have 6 crankbait rods that say 'Fast' on them.  Not rods I'd fish a jig with.  :D  It's all relative.  There are no hard and fast rules for rods. Which is why you were asked for make and model.

BUT I have no idea how you fish or what lures you like.  None of us can decide what YOU like best.  All we can do is offer advice based on how we fish unless you get a lot more into the specifics of how you fish.

You have duplicate power and actions, but are all the rods from the same company?  A 7’ MH/Fast can be different from company to company.

Only you can figure out what rods you need according to the baits/lures you throw.
