I'm interested in other Anglers thoughts on this. I've been trying to buy the Trokar Tournament Tube Hooks and can't find them anywhere and so I emailed Eagle Claw this: Hello, I've been an Eagle Claw customer for 30 years and I've been looking for the TK 190 Tournament Tube Hook for a few weeks now and can't find them at any retailer - big box, tackle shops, or online. Are you making and distributing these hooks still? If so, why can't I purchase them? Thank you.

Here's their response: "Good Morning, At the present time we are currently sold out of the TK190 tournament tube hooks. They are scheduled to be manufactured in mid to late February of 2023. Thank you and have a good week!
Eagle Claw Fishing Tackle"

Does anyone else find this odd? Why are they "scheduled" for manufacture weeks in 6 months when they're "sold out"? Are they unable to move up the manufacturing "schedule" and if so, why? Is this COVID related still? Has the demand for this product (and other fishing products) increased enough for this to happen?

It may be a budget thing. They probably have a schedule of production, based on budget etc, and they may have been off on their selling forecast and did not produce enough on their last cycle.

This happens a lot in business. You have to forecast what you will sell based on prior sales, budget and the market analysis. Sometimes you fall short because it is costly to keep inventory and some organizations would rather under produce and sell out then overproduce and keep inventory.

It's the norm still. The US was affected but countries like China have been devastated.

Where I work, we are still 12-16 months out for delivery on some our machines.  Business is booming but resources and man power are limited.

As far as the hook goes, if you can't find it, try a different hook.

Not odd at all. I can see how from a consumer's perspective, it's "why don't they just make more now", but, (and I hate to sound like my Zeppelin IV vinyl) but companies, no matter what their product or service, are in the business of making money, and moving production on a niche item, which I'm guessing is not one of their best sellers, doesn't make financial sense, also they probably have already contracted production slot times at a given rate. Trokars are horrible hooks by the way.

this.

They didn't forecast enough the last time they made them.  The demand right now for tube hooks must be miniscule, especially if that one is a special one or not normal (I don't know that hook).  So why produce it now when retailers aren't going to order it and then have to sit on it and warehouse it for 6 months.  it takes up space in your warehouse and sits on your financial books as stock in hand (instead of cash in hand if they don't make it now).

That is not unusual even before the pandemic.  Several years ago I was in need of a seat for my Champion.  Le Broc was the manufacturer.  I called them to place the order and was told how many weeks out it would be before that particular seat would be back on the production line.  The delay was close to two months.

I have had 4k Eagle Claw 570 hooks on order since last October. From a luremaking standpoint this is top 10 most popular hook used.

Can't get stuff because there ain't no stuff to get.

I'm a wholesaler. I'm waiting on orders placed over a year ago. Current lead times on some items are anywhere from 8 weeks to 2 years.

Yikes! That’s not good for your customers especially in the business you’re in. My wife couldn’t go a day without A/C. ?

It's been very tricky the last couple years. It's also been very profitable.

My company has an advantage in the industry. We tend to hire people in the industry rather than a body with a pulse.

Not sure if I mentioned it but, and I know, you know more than most, I have almost tripled the sales in my store over the last 2 years.

Won't get into the numbers. If you need a new hvac system, get it before 2023.

Who would’ve thunk that hiring people with competence would be beneficial to their company. We hire people with a pulse and it’s showing. In my line of work hiring people with experience is very difficult to do because there aren’t very many utility locators out there and the company that bought us out basically has a monopoly on the business. If we increased our starting pay it might help bring people in that take pride in their work, but the attrition rate would still be pretty high I imagine.

Our entire HVAC system is all brand new so I’m thankful for that. I was pleasantly surprised the heating and cooling company had a 2-ton condenser on hand and we didn’t have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get it installed. One company I got a quote from was quite a bit hirer in price and would’ve had to wait over a month for them.

Have you tried the standard Eagle Claw model? I use almost all Eagle Claw hooks and have had really good luck with the standard Eagle Claw version of that hook. They're available quite a few places right now, the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Tube Hook.
