I actually got a chance yesterday to fish with my brother in law's Alderbaren. It's an awesome reel without a doubt. At 4.8 oz it's .1 oz lighter than my custom lite. It was very smooth and solid. When I compare it to my custom lite I understand why someone would buy it. I personally would still get my Lew's. I used his for an hour and he used mine . He was severely impressed that my Lew's casted further by a smidge and felt as smooth as it does. I was impressed at how smooth and solid his felt. When we switched back we got the same results distance wise.l prefer the way the Lew's feels palming also but maybe that's because I'm used to it. I would still purchase the Lew's but I'm not knocking the Shimano in any way. They are both high quality reels IMHO.

Omnia has the Custom Pro on sale and I went out of my normal price range and picked one up last week. Almost identical to the Custom lite, but 1 oz heavier due to different materials. I really like the Custom Pro and can see why you would like the Custom Lite. My last 6 reels have been Lew’s and if I needed another reel today, I’d buy another Tournament Pro or Custom Pro. Sure makes shopping easy.

Thanks for your comparison.

That's what she... uh...umm...hmm... Nevermind.

Dodge, just ribbin ya a little brother. Thanks for the review. Your input on the BB1 helped me make the decision to pick one up. Glad I did. It found it's forever home on my main chatterbait rod.

Very nice for flipping, pitching and skipping, or any other short range technique for that matter. My wife confiscated mine. Darn near impossible to backlash.

I have several of both.  The JDM Aldebaran BFS XGs are actually only 4.6 oz and are fantastic out-of-the-box BFS reels. The Lew’s Custom Lite is also a great reel but more of a general purpose reel.  Can’t go wrong with either as long as you apply them to appropriate use cases.
