Super User Swamp Girl Posted September 11, 2022 Super User Posted September 11, 2022 10, 9, 8, 7.... Don't you just love the countdown to a fishing trip? I've been in Sarasota and D.C. the last four days, so I've been in a world of cars, cars, and more cars. Now I'm counting down to traffic/strip malls/fast food franchises detoxification, which happens on a lonesome pond or bog with my paddle and my rods. I'm going bog fishing tonight and then gully fishing tomorrow morning. I can hear the countdown in my head, as exciting as any at Cape Kennedy. I'll let you know how I do tonight and again tomorrow. I spent part of the morning changing line, retying, and rigging some flukes, which I plan to use tonight and tomorrow morning, as well as my green frog, a loon-colored Whopper Plopper, a red spinnerbait, and wacky Senkos. Gosh, I hope I catch a 19-incher or bigger. They make my heart race! 6, 5, 4, 3.... 8 Quote
Super User AlabamaSpothunter Posted September 11, 2022 Super User Posted September 11, 2022 Haha, I remember as a little boy having a friend spend the night so we could get up really early to catfish......we were so excited we stayed up until like 2-3am, and woke up at like 9 or 10am. Needless to say we didn't catch any cats that morning. I loathe Urban areas and do everything possible to avoid them. Suburbs aren't much better. You said it perfectly in regards to detoxification. I think this is a big reason why I like to fish by myself as well, moreover why I like to fish at night the best. To be on a lake at night by yourself is truly my happy place. Good luck, be safe, and have a blast! I'll be looking for the hawg pics in the latest catch thread 1 Quote

Right back at ya Katie, nice to have a community of such likeminded folks. Makes a crazy world seem a little less crazy. It's hard for non fisherman to understand why we fish, kind of sucks not being able to share such awesome moments of your life with family and friends. 1 Quote

Well, everything. Sunrise, sunset, smallmouth, largemouth, fun paddling with the wife and friends, and of course fresh white bass for dinner. Also the part where people think fish don’t live downtown always makes it a little more fun I feel as though this question is better answered photographically…….. All these photos are taken within 1-2 miles of my front door, everybody loves the home field advantage (edit: except the one where I’m standing in the water, that’s in downtown Sevierville about 20 minutes south) AND!!!!!! I can drive my boat by my favorite bldg on earth, neyland stadium 9 1 Quote

Super User T-Billy Posted September 12, 2022 Super User Posted September 12, 2022 No way I could live in a city. My wife and I were joking the other day about us being caught in a Dellroy traffic jam. We had to wait for eight cars to pass before we could pull out. We musta sat there at least 20 seconds. ? Some nice fish there @TnRiver46. 1 1 2 Quote

He claims to only catch dinks then posts pictures of hawgs. Claims to fish with $6 Walmart rods, then posts pictures with a St Croix... I bet a spinnerbait is his #1 lure.? He probably caught that big catfish on a Nichols Pulsator with a skunk meat trailer!!! ? 2 Quote

It’s the part of the TN river, the headwaters, with the smallest fish. When you get down around Chattanooga the fish get about twice as big as what I catch 1 Quote

The vast majority of my big fish have come from either dark or cold water. The night bite has slowed in my neck of the woods, but the cool water season is just around the corner. 2 Quote
