I need to order some line for several combos...

I've bought rods and reels for my kids and I, and while I'm ordering tackle, I tthought I'd also pick up line.

 

I've used generic 10# mono on everything this summer, so I don't know what I want or need.  These are the combos I've got on hand;

 

6'6" light spinning rod and 2000 Daiwa reels for panfish

7' MF spinning rod with 2500 Daiwa reels for bass

7' MHF baitcasting combo for bass

Fishing line is a highly personal preference kind-of-thing.  You don't mention what you techniques you will be using each rod for, but I can tell you what I would use on the two bass rods.  You'll have to try various things out to find what you prefer.  

M/F spinning rod - 6lb to 10lb Trilene OR 6lb-8lb Sufix 832 braid

MH/F baitcasting - 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid OR 50-65lb Sufix 832 (or if you want the cheapest possible workhorse go with 10-12lb Trilene)

 

Much of it depends on what lures you will be throwing.  You'll get more targeted responses if you can give us an idea of what techniques you'll use the most.

You don't say if you fish open water, or structure. 

Lets assume open water.

6'6" spinning. I'd go with 4 lb, either mono or fluro.

7' MF, you could go as light as 6 lb, or better yet 8 lb which is what I use.

7' mhf. 10 to 14 lb test.

Spinning reels don’t go over.010 diameter mono, suggest Sunline Super Natural 8 lb / .009 D

Casting reel, Berkley 12 lb test Big Game green.

Supernatural 8 lb for both spinning reels and 14 lb supernatural for the baitcaster. I like consistency and this will let you build familiarity with one brand of mono at two weights. Then you can compare to others later.

I'll answer your question with a question.  Have you had any problems with your generic 10 pound mono?

I would go 

L - 8lb big game OR 10lb braid to 8lb fc leader

M - 10lb braid to 10lb fc leader

MHF - 15 fc

I don't have any real answers to specific bait or technique questions.  One of each is for me, the other two are for my sons.   I've been fishing with live bait and floats, and stickbaits for the most part.  But that's on borrowed tackle, I'm sure all three of us will be trying different baits and lures going forward.

I would use 6, 10 and 12 pound tests mono respectively.

 

I like Sufix Siege a lot on both spinning and baitcasting gear

you're from texas and probably around some cover and bigger fish, do not listen to the people saying 10 or 12lb for the mh casting setup.

 

17lb mono. personally recommend either berkley trilene big game or sufix siege.

I agree with the previous post. While I have no personal experience in your waters, I would assume it includes some decent structure/cover and has a very real potential of producing (for most of us) very large bass. I would recommend 15lb Big Game for your starting baseline on the baitcasters. Its cheap, reliable, and forgiving.
