Super User Popular Post A-Jay Posted August 3, 2024 Author Super User Popular Post Posted August 3, 2024 Update 03 Aug ~ The whirl wind continues. This was Lynn at Henry Ford on 16 July in the throws of scary renal failure and insane water retention. This was yesterday 02 Aug - 60 lbs later. Doesn't seem real. Currently going to 4 hour Dialysis 3 days a week, Chemo once every 2 weeks and a completely new diet. We're working on making this the new normal. It's just what we do. Thanks for the support. Super User T-Billy Posted August 4, 2024 Super User Posted August 4, 2024 Thanks for the update Andy. Y'all have been on my mind a lot lately. I thought about sending a PM, but didn't want to pry. Figured you'd update here when you were ready. The prayers continue, and I'm happy to see she's doing better. 1 1 Quote

It's a complicated deal. All said and done currently the at home treatment is not our best option. Fortunately the treatment center is not too much of a hike. A-Jay Quote

I only mentioned it because my spouse's nephrologist has raised nighttime dialysis as an option. 1 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 23, 2024 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2024 23 Aug 24 Update ~ We're hanging in there. Lynn's in a holding pattern right now. Treatment is still the same as my last update. Kidney function is SLOWLY / Incrementally improving. This is buying her some much needed time. Looks like this will play out and may go one of three ways. Kidney regains normal function, Dialysis forever or a kidney transplant. She's going on the need a kidney donor list in a week or two just in case. Chemo is once every two weeks and her Lupus is hiding in the weeds. I'm trying to take every opportunity I can to decompress. Thank you all Very Much for the continued support. A-Jay 14 Quote

Functional Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 You probably know but you can donate your kidney even if you aren't a match. You basically trade yours for someone who matches. There is hardly any wait time for it that way. The recovery is usually harder on the donor than recipient though just fyi. Incision at the lower abdomen takes time to heal. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 30, 2024 Author Super User Posted August 30, 2024 30 Aug 24 ~ Update. Last post saw that Lynn's Kidney function was SLOWLY / Incrementally improving. Thankfully that has continued. Sufficiently enough that her 3 days a week dialysis has been reduced to 2 days a week. THIS IS HUGE and there were tears shed. This latest medical deal has been serious and way scary. We try so hard to keep composed, regardless of that's going on at the time. Knowing how volital and how quickly circumstances can change has taught us that maintaining a level head helps control the wildy debilitating stress that can be a another layer that doesn't help anything. Either way, this is a big win. The smiles are the best A-Jay 16 1 Quote
