So as I age I seem to have less and less Friends but I find the relationships I choose to keep are much deeper and more rewarding. What brings this to mind is I got an invite from my oldest friend today...I haven't seen him in a few years and they are throwing a bday party for his moms 60th so he wants me stop by and surprise her. His mom is like a 2nd mom to me and although we haven't seen each other in a long time I know we won't miss a beat.

This topic has been discussed on here in the past and as I get older I find that this trend spills over to alot of areas of my life. Quality over quantity. Better whiskey instead of more. Better cuts of steak instead of 3 cheap ones in its place. Guess I finally know what my parents always said about relishing the finer things in life.

I tend to keep my inner circle of “friends” relatively small.  They are friends I’d trust with my boat??.  I’ve seen too many instances in todays world where people you thought were friends…..were not.  I have a lot of acquaintances, some closer than others but very few friends.

Agreed. I've always heard if you wanna know who you true friends are ask them to help you move. I asked a good friend today would you help me next weekend move some furniture... He said you bet ill bring my truck and a pile of ratchet straps. That's a real friend.

In this day and age of "friending" someone on facebag and tweeker the term friend has definitely lost its true definition. I have a very small circle of friends as well and a much larger circle of acquaintances that I keep at surface level.

A true friend will be willing to say, "That is a horrible idea! What time do you want me there?"

Its like in the Ben Affleck movie the town...he says to Jeremy Renners character " I need your help. I can't tell you what it is, you can never ask me about it and we are gonna hurt some people". Renner responds " whose car we gonna take?".

I've lost track of my closest friends. We all graduated school so long ago. Now, I do lots of stuff on my own. It doesn't bother me. Like others here, I have lots of guys I know. But, not too many true friends anymore.

I relate to Mobasser. Moved out of state when I was twenty and lost all connections.  The people I care the most about are those I worked with. I lost my best friend of 37 years on July 21st and Rick was closer than a brother. I’m very fortunate that my four kids are also my friends. I truly believe you don’t measure friendship by what other folks will invest in your relationship but it’s what you choose to invest in that relationship.
