Purchased a pack of Rage Craws in Crawdaddy because the orange highlights on the claws would work well on a TRig or as a jig trailer. When I got them maybe 3 baits in the pack had this, the rest were basically all brown. Is this a common occurrence with these baits?

Thanks….Joe

I have noticed this also with different products from rage tail, all across the board. Lately it’s been the menace in summer craw for me some had the light, dark and light green highlights. Then some just looked like green pumpkin. I think it’s just part of the manufacturing process if I had to guess. Hope this helps you out.

Maybe it was just an unfortunate bad batch. I have rage craws, rage menaces, rage bugs, and rage swimmers in probably 10-12 colors. I have not had that issue with any of mine. They’ve all looked pretty consistent.

Did you get them online? Is it possible to return or swap them?

i have had the same problem 5/0 but not just with the Crawdaddy. Their Q/C is not very good.

Hmm...

I would have to disagree. The blister packs set Rage Tail apart from other soft plastics.

Every bait is in perfect shape. I have found minor color variations to have no impact on

the bait performance.

I've got like 5 packs of summer craw menaces and haven't noticed much color variation

Thanks for the replies. Markers will fix the problem, but you should get what you pay for.  Only got one pack to try out the color, if it were multiple packs I would return be returning them.

Only thing I’ve noticed is the Rage Baby Craw in “Bama Craw” will sometimes not have the orange bottom. To me it’s mostly a non-issue as Rage Tail baits are great quality fish catchers and slight color variations won’t negate that.

I’ve been using Rage products since 2010 and can honestly say I’ve never had a problem with their quality control

Couple years ago, I'd have agreed completely.   Quality has taken a dive.  Colors off, flanges deformed or missing altogether, deformed baits, etc.   I've written to Strike King via their web page, but never got even an automated response saying "we take every concern seriously abd we'll get back to you...blah blah"  Not a word.

If they'd just put the coffee smell back, I'd overlook some of the crap QC.

Some two-color soft baits can be risky. I now always buy those in the store, never online. I’m the guy that will go through the whole rack to find the best pack.

I’ve had the same problem with some Zoom two-colors. I sent an email to them complaining about the one little pack of worms I bought, and they sent me like 5 packs with the color just like I like them. That was quite a few years ago though, I doubt they would do that today.

There’s another two-color Zoom worm I used to have great luck with, but I could never find them on the shelf with the right amount of each color, so I just quit buying them. I know that sounds super picky, but the few I bought with color variation just wouldn’t get bit.

Any kind of bait that has multiple colors mixing in the mold will have irregularities. This isn’t a Rage issue…this is the reality with multiple pigments randomly mixing together in a swirl rather than a laminate. I’m currently putting a Big Bites Bait Kamikaze Swimon on a JH in the GP Flamethrower color and each of these looks a little different than the next.

I have had a fair number of California Craw bugs come out of the pack watermelon red flake. It is frustrating because when I pay nearly $1 each for soft plastics I expect to get the color I paid for.

Watch the YouTube video on Southern Plastics and you will see how they make the baits.  Any dual colored baits will have color variations.

The fact that over half the baits were almost all brown sounds like more than color variations and they should have been caught. Baits like that will always have variation, but almost no secondary color to me would not be acceptable. I like rage too, but all companies have issues from time to time.

Do you have pictures of one with little color or were they used up?

Here ya go. The ones on the right are acceptable. The rest are not, maybe one could be considered a variation but not a good one. Just bought one pack so I won’t be sending them back. If the good ones work out well, I probably would order more but they will go back if the same thing occurs.

I just bought some of the Rage Bugs in the Crawdaddy color and noticed the same variation in the baits. I was also thinking there’d be a little more orange based on the TW example. I just kinda shrugged it off thinking there’s a lot of variations in nature and I’ll let the fish decide

* I had the same situation with GYCB Flappin’ Hogs and they got bit. Granted, it wasn’t as big a difference as the photo above

Yeh quality control should have caught that. The one on the bottom right even looks a little weak too.

Might be just the pic but they don’t even look the same size.

HaHaHa. Yeah they’re the same size. The photographer is not the best. But if they weren’t, they would have gone back for sure.
