Wacky rod

Hi, I am searching for a wacky rod. I was thinking 7.0 7,1 medium fast or XF

 

what models are your favourite? Something around the legend tournament in price. 
 

i like st croix a lot but i would like to try something else!

 

i was thinking GCX. Any thoughts? Is it worth it?

Loomis 852c JWR. Very versatile and great for tons  of other things too. Also great for light jigs/t rigs, flukes, chatterbait mini max 1/4oz, 3” swimbaits w belly weight hook, small spinner baits.

The NRX 852s is my go to senko rod. Its so light, so sensitive and strong. I spend alot of time throwing wacky rigs and have yet to find a rod better.

The Expride 7'2" MH F (EXS72MHB) is a fantastic Wacky rod.  I've been using it for most of this season at this point.

It looks like a wonderful rod not gonna lie but it’s really expensive. 
 

i was thinking maybe the GCX 852 JWR but I’m worried it’s not a good rod since it’s the cheapest loomis.

I thought maybe the 7 medium Fast maybe. I’m very not decided lol just searching for another brand so I can judge which is my favourite

I think there are many, many suitable MF, MXF, MLF, MLXF rods available for wacky rigs. I don’t really see the need for superior sensitivity with a WR rod when the majority of the time I “sense” bites on a WR by line movement vs. feel. 
 

For me, a 6’6” to 7’0”” MF rod is perfect for wacky rig fishing.

any spinning rod around 7ft medium action should be fine . your budget dictatates what you buy. i dont like the gcx. i feel there are better rods around that price point. st,croix legend tournament shimano expride, but thats up to you and what you like.

^^Agreed ^^ My favorite wacky rod is unfortunately not available anymore. It's a 6'9" ML Fenwick Elitetech Smallmouth rod. It just has a great tip for flicking wacky worms in, around, and under anything I want.

 

I hold my spinning rods with three fingers in front of the reel stem, so I hate having a reel seat with threads in front of the reel (Like most have). My favorite spinning rods right now are Falcon, Daiwa, and some St. Croix (Bass X and Victory) that have a pronounced foregrip. I also like the unusual handle of the Feather FTX 7'1" MF (fishes like a ML) that I recently picked up.

 

For me a 6'9" - 7' ML is ideal for wacky. Which brand/model depends on the user. My brother gives me grief for using 8-10lb mono but I feel it has better slack line sensitivity than braid and is cheap and easy to manage.

My wacky rig rod is a Fenwick HMX 6’6” MF paired with a Daiwa Revros LT2500. I used to use 8 lb. mono, but switched to 20 lb. braid to 8 lb. mono leader. I fish relatively shallow waters and don’t have a ton of slack in my line. But straight mono works well. I just prefer braid as it does not coil like mono.

The Daiwa Tatula Elite 7' M/F Brent Ehrler dropshot rod will do quite nicely.

The St. Croix Mojo 6' 8" M/F is one of the best wacky rig rods I've ever owned. I've had it since they first introduced the Mojo lineup and it's the only one that I kept of the several I tried.
