My experience is extremely limited with spinning reels.  I like my Daiwa BG.  Bit heavier than some, but feels like it is built like a tank.

Daiwa Fuego LT.  Great reel for the money, cannot tell the difference between it and the Tatula for almost $200.  Maybe in a few years, but I doubt it.

Used to be Pfluegers were in the hunt, but the new ones don't have anti reverse switches.  Neither do the Shimanos, I think.  I won't buy a reel without the switch.

Ryobi Zauber in all incarnations.

Ryobi hasn't marketed or sold fishing gear in the US for quite some time, so US resident's would have to buy via the grey market.

Definitely one to consider in that price range, many models are currently out of stock at TW , but you should be able to find them on the internet.

This would be my choice. Lowest price Shimano I found with a screw in handle. I am not a fan of spinning reels with the knob you tighten on the opposite side of the handle.

Upgrade to the Spheros. Worm gear drive is worth it.

The Daiwa Caldia LT MQ for $148.00 from Digitaka is insane. Big Bass turned me on to this deal and it’s awesome.

Ive heard the MQ are significantly harder to self-service. Any truth to that?

Just another option...

Daiwa Procyon LT is currently on sale at Scheels for $120 - that's 1/3 off regular price.

Just don't steal a gun from the rack and shoot yourself while you are there...

...but it is the reel I'd buy for that price.  Great deal,.

Yes. It requires a specific SST.

Those who love the Nasci evidently don't miss the switch, because it doesn't appear to have one.

easy choice for me.

Daiwa Procyon AL!!  this reel has the most fish on it for me.  by a mile.   zero complaints.  except maybe it seems to sink super fast.  to be honest, all rod/reel combos sink super fast..hahah

when it sank, I bought the same one.  which says a lot.

I find myself liking the Daiwa Fuego LT spinning reels.

I'm kind of wierd because I just cant get myself to spend money on spinning reels like I do casting reels. I think the law of diminishing return just kicks in quicker for me on spinning reels than it does casting reels.

My most expensive spinning reel is $99 and below. Fuegos, Pflueger XT, Presidents, down to Daiwa Regals and Revros are plenty to keep me happy, yet my cheapest casting reels seem to be at that $99 threshold and above. BPS Pro Qualifier, SLX, Fuegos and Lews LFS are the starting point for me up through Curados and Daiwas SV, to a couple at the higher price point of the new Zillion and Bantam MGL.

Just can't justify those higher prices for a spinning reel.

Agree that the Fuego LT is a great $100.00 option - fair amount of flex but that's the trade off for the LT. Old Fuegos were magnificent.

Another to consider is the Lews Custom Pro spinning reel. VERY solid..and heavy. Decent drag. Handle feels really good and they're $140ish.

I'm the opposite with the reels though - I won't spend a lot on a casting reel. "A lot" is relative, obviously, but I'm content with the Tatula. Drag doesn't matter on them as it's heavier line and winching them to the net and they cast plenty far for me. I'd rather drop money on a spinning reel as the drag MATTERS and I don't want a floppy jalopy.
