If you really want/need bulk spools, Suffix Advance Mono (co polymer) is available in 4pound test up to 1200 yards for $26.49. Although I can’t compare it to Yo Zuri hybrid I for one enjoy it on both spinning and bait cast reels in 10 pound.

Hey All,

Thinking of throwing Yozuri Hybird on two of my Medium fast action spinning rods. Seeing a bit of back and forth here about that line size of yozuri hybrid and most recommending 6# test as max on the spinning reels (200 sized reels).

On my Medium Fast rod i have a 300 size lews reel.

Rod rated for 6-15 lb line.

Do you think the 300 size reel, should have 6#, 8 # or 10 # test yozuri hybrid for best matching line?

Whatever mono-copoly-FC you decide to stay under .010 diameter.

They use to make Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft for spinning, I wouldn't put the regular stuff on those reels. Something like Suffix Elite or Pline CX for that.

Been fishing over 50 years. For 90% of that used Trilene XL and XT and occasionally in lake Michigan chasing smallmouths in and around brake wall structures used Berkley Fireline.

One day 5 or six years ago saw an online article about copolymer fishing lines and it reviewed

Yo-Zuri Copolymer. Gave it a extremely high rating for abrasion resistance and breaking strength. Back when it still was available OTC at my local Cabela's I saw a 250yd spool of 10lb for IIRC $7 or $8 figured give it a try. Decided to give it a true baptism of fire first use and used it as my line for my spinning setup for fishing inline spinners for steelhead and salmon in creeks full of the nastiest above and underwater snags in the form of trees and tree roots you can possibly imagine. I ended up so impressed it is the only non-braided line I use now.

In MY OPNION I feel for the cost Yo-Zuri copolymer can not be beat.

Been using Yo-Zuri copolymer for five possibly six years now. Use 6, 8, and 10lb on my spinning gear and 12 and 15lb on my baitcasting setups. I am satisfied with Yo-Zuri in every possible way.

I personally just can not see enough advantage in 100% fluorocarbon to be worth spending 3-5x as much VS YZCP.

Same for me. Legitimately it is the only non braid I buy or use in any capacity. Very pleased with it.

Would you be so kind to allow me to impose upon you the favor as to explain why?

there's a reason for the "breaking strength" observation - table for YZH from YoZuri/Duel Int'l website:

Capture.JPG

If you compare diameter/strength to a high-grade fluorocarbon (Toray), YZH has essentially under-rated all their lines for USM, who asks to be fooled this way.

I would rather know the actual breaking strength of my line, so I can properly set my drag to 1/4-weakest-link on spring scale, and take advantage of the other properties of the line that come out in fishing.

General statement Mono-Copoly-FC line over .010 diameter have memory that tends to come off 1000-2000-2500-3000 reels in coils that impact casting performance.

Tom

PS, Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a co-extruded tri-polymer line; copolymer core with FC polymer jacket results in higher memory.

This was my original thread almost two years ago, so I'll give an update. I've since tried P Line CX, and like it better than Yo Zuri hybrid. I'm using 6lb on 1000 and 2000 size spin reels.                       P Line CX handles so much better for me than Yo Zuri. I like the green color, and, have had zero issues on my spin gear. I'm not sure what the diameter of the P Line is compared to Yo Zuri, but cast after cast it works.           The only way to really judge a line is to fish it extensively. I've done this with Yo Zuri, and like P Line CX better.

I’m still using 6-8lb trilene xl on spinning reels when not using braid

6lb is .008in

thinner than trilenexl which is .009

Maxima UG is smaller dia per lb test then Yo-Zuri Hybrid, compare diameters. Yo-Zuri 4 lb is .009D, Max UG 4 lb is .007D, 5 lb is .008D, 6 lb is .009D. Stronger line per lb test but more expensive.

I use 5 lb /.008D Max UG because it’s very strong knot strength and abrasion resistance plus very manageable line on 1000 size spinning reels.

Quoting Tom here from past accurate logic : Pay attention to line diameter , not what pound test is printed on the lable ! Never exceed .010 inch line diameter on a spinning reel and you will be in decent shape with line handling - the rest is up to your individual preferences for line strength , line color , etc. I will end by saying  that while I have to order it on-line ,   The Maxima Ultra Green is a wonderful line !!

Did you compare by diameter? 6lb P-Line cx (.21mm) is actually thinner than 4lb yzh (.235mm)

Yes. It handles better also
