Super User Mobasser Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 Ive been looking for a good light line for my spinning gear, for fishing a very clear water lake that I've been fishing for several years. I've been using 6lb mono in different brands for years, but always on the lookout to improve my line. Many have recommended this Yo Zuri Hybrid line here on BR. I ordered two spools, one 6lb and one 4lb. I've spooled the 4lb on a med spinning rod. This 4lb has a break strength of around 7lbs or more. Fishing small plastics. Grubs, 4" worms, tube, etc, this line handles very well. Great casting, and excellent knot strength. Good durability, and abrasion resistance also. I haven't used any line conditioner, and I don't think I'll need it. The line handles good as it is. This Yo Zuri is affordable also. As for being more sensitive? That's hard to say? I'm using a sweep/ reel hookset, which works best with this line. If you need a lighter line for clear water fishing, this should work well for you. Im liking it so far, and plan on fishing this one until my lake freezes over this season. 5 Quote

Ya - 4# YZH is great for most applications on a Med-power rig....actual breaking strength is around 8.5# in tests. 6# is about as high as I'd go on spinning unless you're using a 3000+ size reel. I've got 2 spinning and 2 casting rigs with YZH on them...great, affordable line. 2 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 When my 6# fluorocarbon kept rotting I switched to Yozuri hybrid. I have it on 5 Ned setups. I’m happy with it. 1 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 I’m a long time Trilene XL fan. Will always recommend them. It’s easy to get for sure. Over the last few years I’ve been fishing the SunLine Super Mono in 6# and 8#. This is great stuff. Only draw back is that I can’t find it in bigger bulk spools. Good luck with your search. 3 Quote
papajoe222 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 I dont use anything lighter thab 8lb. test, but I may give this one a shot. I use it in 10lb. test for cranking and prefer it to fluorocarbon as kinks in the line dont appear yo weaken it as much. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 4-6lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid goes on all my spinning gear. Excellent stuff. Just ordered a bulk spool of each size. 2 Quote
Bass Rutten Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 I can only speak to casting gear as I use braid on spinning gear but I've found YZH to be consistent, reliable, and cheap, a hard combination to find for anything these days. I use it for leaders on both of my spinning setups though, and I have 10lb on one of my mh casting outfits I've been using for soft jerkbaits and jigs. Fluoro at times seems to transmit vibrations a touch better than copoly but it's not an omg night and day difference, it's close enough that I'm not ruling out placebo effect either. I have no issue getting or detecting bites which imo is 90% angler and 10% gear anyhow. I also use 15lb on one of my swimbait rods. 4 Quote

Ya- problem is that 8# YZH is the same diameter as 10# Trilene XT....bit big for anything under a 3000 reel...though I did run 10# on a Trion-35 and it wasn't too bad. 1 hour ago, Jar11591 said: 4-6lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid goes on all my spinning gear. I was going to link you to Tackle Warehouse but when I looked at my order it is 275 yards and that’s the only amount they sell. That’s not bulk I guess. That’s the only size they don’t have in 600 yards. Too bad. Ordered another one. 1 Quote

Ya - had me wondering there cause if they DID have 4# in 600yd spools, I'd get one One of my bass spinning rigs and two of my crappie rigs use 4# YZH...so one 'loading' consumes an entire 275yd spool. 1 Quote

A size 25 reel will take almost entire spool itself. 275 yards isn’t near enough. Honestly I wish they sold it by the 1500 yards like Big Game and Trilene. Quote

I never fully spool a reel with my mainline...70-80yds on the spinning reel with cheap mono backing...Berkley Cajun 6# specifically. 1 Quote

Yes. I left my old mono on and stripped off about half of it. I just used electrical tape to wrap the old line tight, then spooled the new Yo Zuri over that . I figured I would on about 75 yrs. I'll get three refills this way- from one 275 yd spool. That's on a size 2000 Lew's Speed Spin reel. 1 Quote
5/0 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Saw 4# on Amazon. The problem with Amazon is that it’s generally more expensive than TW. You may make up the cost if you have Prime. Too bad TW doesn’t offer the 4#. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 Maxima UG is smaller dia per lb test then Yo-Zuri Hybrid, compare diameters. Yo-Zuri 4 lb is .009D, Max UG 4 lb is .007D, 5 lb is .008D, 6 lb is .009D. Stronger line per lb test but more expensive. I use 5 lb /.008D Max UG because it’s very strong knot strength and abrasion resistance plus very manageable line on 1000 size spinning reels. Tom 2 Quote

With super light line I’m wary of line to line knots, even though I don’t think I’ve ever had a line to line knot fail on me. Just a mental thing. I’m extra cautious with light line. Because Hybrid is pretty cheap I usually fill the reel up with it, and swap it out fairly often. 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 I used it in 10 pound test , and liked it the first couple of re-lines. The next couple times I noticed I was getting more break offs on the hook set. So I have used trilene ever since with rare breaks… 2 Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted August 22, 2022 Super User Posted August 22, 2022 I have used Sufix Siege for years on baitcasting and spinning equipment. I ran across the 600 yard spools of YZH Hybrid for around $8.00 so it bought a spool of 8# to try it out. So far it has been very good on my spinning setups. I have only had one bad line tangle with it and that was probably my fault. I was throwing a weightless Trick Worm and didn't use a swivel and leader with it. I am using it on 200 and 2500 size spinning reels. 2 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 23, 2022 Super User Posted August 23, 2022 I never cared for YH for spinning gear. On casting gear it was pretty good but I got a few bad spools and never went back. For cheaper mono, I have been using Sufix Elite 6lb but it's super stretchy. I tend to like either straight fluorocarbon (Sunline Sniper Invisible 6lb) or braid with a FC leader, depending on the application, on all of my spinning gear. 1 Quote

Another two line I forgot about on spinning gear I like are Invizx and Trilene XL 100% Fluorocarbon. Invizx is great but the the Trilene was different the last time I tried it. Haven't used it since. Super User roadwarrior Posted August 23, 2022 Super User Posted August 23, 2022 I have fished Yo Zuri for years and find both #4 & #6 excellent on spinning tackle. #12 was my choice for baitcasting gear. Although I still have Hybrid on a couple of rigs, my go-to is Seaguar Tatsu. #4 & #6 on spinning gear, #15 for baitcasters. 3 Quote
