Im looking to buy another rod and one of the rods Im looking at is the Shimano Poison Adrena. On Tacklewarehouse there are reviews saying they are not so durable and the tips have broken off. For those here who have these rods what are your opinions on it?

other rods on my list are g loomis nrx+, daiwa  steez and st croix legend elite x

thanks all

Anecdotal evidence without sufficient context.  For one more anecdotal data point, I have four Shimano PA and one Poison Glorious and they are all exceptional rods with no issues.  Plus they are very light.  If you are looking at St. Croix, look at the Legend Xtreme with the carbon fiber guides. All of the above are awesome rods - but I might be suffering from confirmation bias. ?

Don't boat flip, hoist fish onto the shore or high stick the rod on a hookset or snag and your "tips breaking off" problem goes away for all rods with very few exceptions.  Some rods are more resistant to this treatment and others are not.  The adrenas are not by the sounds of it.  So, don't do that stuff if you get one and if you do that stuff then don't get one.

I can't think of too many rod companies that I DON'T here someone complain about them breaking. I think some people are just hard on their rods. I don't pay too much attention to the "This company's rods break too easy" responses.

I've only broken a handful of rods and in almost every case, they were entirely my fault. Some were instances of me grabbing the rod up by the tip while trying to land a fish, crushing them under the trolling motor support rod, or having them hanging off the front of the boat and catch on something. Oh,..the ceiling fan has taken out 1 as well! ??

The only other time I can think of is an OLD Fenwick HMX that broke when my wife set the hook with the drag too tight. At least we were able to handline the nice smallie in!!

As Tat said above,.. Don't try to boat flip or high stick them and you ate usually fine!!

I have both the old and current model PA.

The current model in both spinning and casting.

So far, no issues with any of them.

Like mentioned, take care of your gear and there usually isn't a problem.

The only rods I ever broke were caused by human error.

Oh, I've gotten plenty in the celings fans, but usually they just go "Clackity Clack" and get thrown out of the blades.

This one was at just the right (or wrong) angle and caught the chain besel and snapped the upper 8-10" right off. ??

Oh well,... Crap happens!! ?

Been there, done that.  When I purchased my last two fishing rods, I looked at both the Poison Adrena and the Zodias models side by side.  Both are incredibly light and sensitive.  I decided on a Zodias because there seemed to be little difference other than the price.    Both of my Zodias rods are MH.  One is 7'2" and the other is 6' 10".   These two rods are vastly different.  The 6' 10' rod is built on a much thinner diameter blank than the 7' 2".  I use the lighter rod with worms and Senkos.  The 7' 2" rod is a tough beefy work horse.  I believe it's the best flipping rod I have ever owned.  Spooled up with braid, I swear I can feel a bass hit my lure before it does.

There has never been a fishing rod that someone couldn't break.  Back in the seventies, I bought one of the first graphite fishing rods on the market.  As I remember it was a Fenwick and I paid $300 for it way back then.  It only took me a few trips before I broke it.  When it happened, my fishing buddy and I were so stunned we stared at each other for what seemed like 20 minutes.   Luckily, Fenwick replaced it under the warranty.  Buy what makes you happy.  Do you want your last thoughts to be "I should have bought that Adrena fishing rod?"  ☺️

I have a 7'2" Medium powered PA that I've had two seasons now and it has been a dream to fish with. It sees a lot of time on the water and I've never had an issue.

Spinning or baitcast? What do you use it for.

Well they don't make a 7'2 spinning rod...

It gets used for everything that fits its weight range. It's extremely versatile with its action. Buzzbaits, small Keitechs, small jigs and T-rigs, Senkos, 1/4oz traps, poppers. The list goes on.
