just wondering how everyone uses their icons on their fishfinders. Do you all use one icon for fish, structure, and cover or do you use different icons for different things. Just wondering if i am using too many icons such as for crappie, bass, big bass, laydowns, brushpiles, points, ledges, etc. Thanks

If you are comfortable using a large number of icons and can remember what they all represent, then by all means do so.  After all, it's YOUR depth finder.

I use different icons for different stuff.  I also name the waypoints something that helps me remember what it is I marked.  Combined, I can revisit stuff I hadn't fished in years.

I used a lot of different Icons representing different things.  One of my favorite was looking a the map and picking spots to fish at night and marking them with a STOP sign.

Sadly, my new unit doesn't have an icon feature.

I use a differnt color "X" icon for each type of cover.

Green X = weeds

Yellow X = submerged wood

Red X = Chunk rock/boulders

Really helps when pattern fishing, especially if its submerged cover that you can't see.

When I find a congregation of bass I will mark them with the two fish icon.  If I catch a toad, I use the big single fish icon.  I don't mark any other species. 8-)
