Shimano Metanium MGL 151 HG, 7.1 gear ratio. Phenix M1 Vortex, 7'2" MH rod.

So light and the Metanium MGL is as smooth as others have said. This reel palms quite nice. It's a little taller than the Curado MGL 71 I have. This is such a beautiful baitcast reel!

The M1 Votex is stunning to look at and very light in weight and feel, very good sensitivity with various lures.

Not sure if I buy into the Metanium MGL since its frame is all one piece Hagane that it is sensitive too. I do use 20 lb Power Pro Super8Slick V2. I may bump up to 30lb Super8Slick V2.

This is a combo I've been wanting for a long time, finally pulled the trigger and gifted myself.

Nice! I've been looking at those M1 rods, but the only place by me that has them only seems to have ML or H versions. Can't seem to find a M or MH to handle.

I've got a couple Feather FTX rods that I really like so far.

Frnknsteen, I now both thr 7'2" M1 I. H and MH. The H feels more like a true MH.

Happy Birthday to you! That is an awesome combo you got there! I’ve been looking at those  Phenix rods pretty close…they might be my end of season splurge so I can stare at them all winter ?

The M1 Vortex Heavy in my opinion is a more versatile rod than the MH. Also the Heavy has more backbone for setting hooks. I think the MH would be good for cranks and topwater which I also tried and I got very good distance.

So they run lighter than marked? Good to know. The Feather FTX spinning rods I have do too.
