df81 Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Hi, First post, this isn't a salt water forum specifically, but I searched here and read a little - mostly about the PR844S. Has anyone used all the sizes? I recently purchased the IMX PR842S ML/F and wondering if I should exchange it for a different size or not. I'm still trying some different size lures/lines etc, and mostly like the rod, but I'm maxing out casting 3/8's lures at 25-30 yards. Not bad, but would be perfect to add about 10 yards or so for longer casts. The ML/F is pretty bendy. Wondering if the PR8400S ML Extra Fast might be preferable, or the PR844S M/F? The 844 seems to be the most popular. If you've used them what is a typical casting distance? I'm using 8 lbs mono and 20 lbs braid with Stradic. Thank you Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 10, 2022 Super User Posted August 10, 2022 I have both the PR844S and PR844C. Typical casting distance is 35-40 yards. Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 12, 2022 Super User Posted August 12, 2022 Only used the PR854C for lipless and crankbaits to 1/2-5/8 oz and structure spoons 1/2 to 1 oz. excellent rod for those applications. Tom Quote

Distance has been ok, not bombing stuff but casts well about 30 give or take yards. I’ve found this rod to be great for spin/fly fishing too. Casts 1/4 rooster tails with 4lb mono quite well, works well for bubble and fly. I like it. It’s growing on me. Basically a a more powerful ultra light/trout rod. Quote
