KP Duty Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 I'm sure alot of folks on here have dogs...and you've got to keep the fleas at bay. For years I've been putting frontline on their necks...about once a month at $15 a pop. More recently, I saw these flea collars (seresto) that last 8 months, but they were over 50 bones each. I couldn't bring myself to shell out the $150+ it would cost to cover my 3 dogs. However, I was on ebay last week and ran across these seresto flea collars for a crazy bargain at $19.99 shipped. I sprang for them, and now my dogs are covered until march. And...my dogs didn't get ticked when I put the collars on them....they hate it when I put that flea liquid on their necks and would hide. Anyway, I feel like I beat the system....8 months flea control for $20. Can't beat it. Anyone else use these? Quote

And myself. i just asked my wife and she said she has treated them before but couldn’t remember with what, so I’m guessing it’s been a while. Maybe years. 1 Quote

The Mrs worked in the veterinary field for 5 years-office manager- and word is that any of the deals like that are for counterfeits. My springers live in the woods, and Soresto collars have really helped. I often find dead ticks on my pup that never reach the skin. They die halfway into her fur. It's crazy. Hell, I'd wear one if I could. Quote
Woody B Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 We use Seresto collars for our 2 dogs. There's been talk about a recall but we haven't had any problems. Our vet approved their use too. 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted August 10, 2022 Global Moderator Posted August 10, 2022 I get covered in fleas at work, it’s wonderful. Peoples houses get infested with them, they call a pest control company and they always say the same thing. “You have to get rid of the host animal first” so then they call me. Same story every single time. Well guess what, if there was a host then the fleas wouldn’t be all up in the house, they would be on the host animal. Literally every single time this has happened, which is dozens, I have to go over there and crawl through their crawl space, get covered in fleas, only to find the animal is dead or gone. Even though I knew that was the case every time before I even drive over there. But the customer is getting the runaround from pest control, and of course they want me to get fleas all over me so they can say “see?? I’ve got fleas” even though they told me that over the phone. Great times Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 10, 2022 Super User Posted August 10, 2022 Our pack gets NexGard (chews) year round. Switched from the topical 10 or 11 years ago. Was always tough getting the 'oil' through the heavy doubled coat dogs and onto there actual skin; so we prefer the chews. Chews are more $$ but we buy in 'bulk' so our Vet cuts us a break. Haven't seen a flea in years but still get one or two ticks early season each year. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted August 10, 2022 Super User Posted August 10, 2022 Tea tree oil and cut up drier sheets in Richard's pet shampoo, Toggy was prone to seizures, and a lot of the meds made it worse. 1 Quote

I would be very skeptical of anything from eBay that was that much cheaper than retail. eBay is full of Chinese knock offs. You never know what it could do to your dog or if it even does anything. We’ve used Bravecto for about 8 years and no fleas or ticks on our lab. Quote

I've also heard that smaller pet supply stores and even vets get things cheaper when they buy larger quantities from the manufacturer....and dump what they can't sell on ebay You just need to be a savvy consumer and look at how many they've sold + feedback.
