Ah…. I understand. I’d have to say I’ve also experienced that too on occasion. Both the not being able to feel sometimes and that heavier weights tend to snag more often that I like.

Maybe it’s just the lake I’m in. I’m stuck bank fishing for now and I don’t know what the bottom is like. If it’s all soft muck maybe that’s why I can’t feel bottom well. I could also try tungsten to reduce the snags. When I was at the store I just couldnt spend $10 on a marble sized weight lol.

This lure looks awesome in the video. The reviews on it show a lot of people having it fall apart on them. How long do they last? Do you have a favorite color?

Indeed! Same for me. Also sandy bottoms act about the same to me. I’ve confirmed the latter on a sandy shoreline both with rod and bare hand. Practically zero feedback and our hands are more sensitive than the most sensitive rod. 
 

I believe you can label the mucky bottom as the culprit for not “feeling” much if anything.

For the record, soft bottoms won't ruin your bite detection.

 

It'll make your lure feel "mushy" when you are working it, but bites will still feel the same.

 

If anything, there will be even more contrast between "oh..that was a rock" and "that was a fish" because the bottom is so soft.

 

The lake I bank fish is nothing but muck on the bottom.

Tungsten makes a big difference . As a shore fisherman I wouldn't use it. To expensive to loose it.Are you fishing weeds or rocks? In rocks you should fish football heads as they get stuck less.if you can't afford a big boat get a rowboat used. The when you get stuck you can circle around your snag and pull it out from the back.

I don’t have a way of moving a row boat around. I’m going to try a kayak now and then. I’m fishing weeds.

Pumpkinseed melon and grape. I've caught a few fish on them. Haven't torn one up yet. They aren't cheap.
