did that have more?

High schoolers can afford $500 worth of tackle?

To answer the last question in the OP, no you shouldn't have just given it to them (you asked!). My opinion. Especially if they came looking to buy in the first place with $500 on hand. I could buy a lot of tackle brand new for $500. I'd look for a different charity case.

But that's cool that you are so generous. Seriously.

I guess I'm confused why $500 is such a big deal for a couple HS kids to have. That has been mentioned more than once in this thread. That's only $250 each. My son just turned 17 and he never asks for a dime. He buys his own gas, food, video games, etc. I am the "adult" on his bank account and I monitor what he spends his money on and he currently has over $3,500 in his account. I know most older people think this generation of teens is worthless, but some of them are hard working productive citizens.

just basing it on my own experience bud.  in high school I didn't have $500 to spend on bait.

I was buying my gas, and food my mom didn't feed me.  plus...girls.

I was once mtn biking and chasing a bunch of high schoolers. they were my "jackrabbit".  pacing me.  I kept up, but barely.  one kid screams back, "man we gotta go and drop this old guy".

I scream back up, "old guy?  hey, I think I am the only one here that my momma didn't buy my mountain bike for me".    we all laughed.   on the downhill, I had no shot.  they disappeared.

d**n..today I dont think I have $500 I can drop on baits..hahah

maybe next week. ;)
