I'm a shore fisherman so I do what everybody else does and just throw it on the ground for the parks people to pick up.......just kidding. I put it out in my tackle bag or pocket depending what it is until I can throw it away. I can tolerate alot of bs but littering is not acceptable. I could tolerate somebody being rude or walking up on my spot without asking to a certain degree...but watching somebody throwing empty beer cans in the lake makes me want to hold their head under water until the kicking stops.

MY boat has storage under the seats.  I keep the compartment under the passenger seat empty.  I put my trash there and empty it when I get home.

A-Jay, I live in the country, and I'm the recipient of the stuff you mention.  I have always wondered about pickup truck owners.  Do they never wonder what the heck happens to all that stuff they throw into the backs of their trucks, but don't find it there when they get home?

I do as well and I feel your pain.

I'm quite a way back from the road but for whatever reason

the local 'humans' (and I'm using that term in the loosest sense)

find it necessary to jettison all types of vial trash out of their rides in front of my drive.

Examples include but are not limited to, Empty shots of Fireball, full spit bottles (chewing tobacco), just about every fast food type of drink cup & wrapper, deer parts, and loaded diapers.

I hate people.

Any food wrappers or water bottles get put in the cooler. Fishing line, hooks, and other related items I put in a boat compartment and clean it all out when I get home.

I bought a small minnow bucket just for that purpose. It stores easily and just dump contents in trash when I leave the water.

My post not too  long ago was " Becoming a Trashman".  Lots of guys came up with good ways to dispose of trash. I'm always glad to hear that others feel it's important also. It really is important, for the future of our sport.

As a bank fisherman, I carry my rods and a backpack which contains my scale, soft plastics, and my tackle box. Any food or drinks I bring with go in the backpack. Whatever garbage I create goes in the backpack and disposed of at a garbage can nearby or at home.

Can’t believe some of the crap I’ve seen just thrown right on the bank. 9 times out of 10 it’s usually the guys and gals with bobbers ??

What do you do with your trash that gets created from fishing such as pieces of line, broken hardware, snack wrappers and just general small trash items?

Trash can in the shed

I usually carry a trash liner with me, and when I get done fishing I'll police up whatever trash I can until it's full, then throw it away. Littering is one of those things that get my blood boiling, kind of like not returning your buggy to the buggy bin at Walmart or wherever, it tells me exactly what kind of person you are and it's 100% accurate.

i throw my loose stuff into my shoulder bag. i try to pack out stuff i find, tho, principally fishing line. line is awful to leave, and where i fish, people leave line all over. what pigs.

i try to take what i can. if i find a lure, it's a tip! found a really cool rebel popper, a deep diver, which i don't use, some plastics.

i generally don't bother with other litter. i leave it for the pigs. do i sound bitter?

Judging from the current conditions of my local lakes, I believe it's illegal to use the trash bins.  Apparently, you're supposed to throw all of your trash into the water or along the bank.  Something about how it's supposed to help keep the water levels higher during times of drought.

Seriously though, I don't bring much with me that can become trash.  But whatever I do generate, and some other people's garbage I pick up along the way, gets put under my seat or in my hatch for proper disposal when I get back to the ramp.  And I remelt soft plastics, so old worms and craws are valuable to me.  Even broken hard lures will get scavenged for blades, split rings, hooks, whatever, when I get home.

I saw a small bucket at ICAST that had a mesh cover over the opening with a slit in the middle.  You can slide you trash in it and it keeps both the trash from flying out and the bugs off of it.  I plan to make something similar.

I put my trash in my bag and then sink it to the bottom of the lake, river, or pond.

...it goes in my bag and then in the trashcan when I'm near a trashcan.

Littering disgusts me and is easy to prevent. I will admit that I absolutely do not search for the 2" piece of line I cut off tag ends though.

Around here the absolute worst littering fishing slobs are during trout season. Go to any stocked trout water and you’ll find styrofoam cups, food wrappers, worm containers, fishing line. It’s disgusting. So many are the 1 day wonders. They come out fish opening day and there done for the year. That’s why I called them fishing slobs NOT fishermen.

I trust the majority of the members here use the super power of common sense and place their trash in a secure location until a trash receptacle is available.

What other option is there???

Littering which is what many people seem to do. I doubt they will reply here though ;)

My trash goes under the passenger seat so it doesn't blow out.  Damaged soft plastics go in a cup holder. Boat gets cleaned out when I get home.

I bought a tacklewebs bag to collect little garbage like line.

Empty plastic bottles/cans go into a bag in the built in cooler, hooks/tackle get hung on a magnet or TH marine undercompartment rack, and any food items go into a ziplock.  I was using a less compartmentalized setup before but this works killer and keeps everything off the floor of the boat and most importantly out of the lake.

Great ideas!

I have used a SeaSense Trash Trapper for many years to place everything from water bottles, sandwich wrappers and everything else accumulated during the day. It's mounted on the side of the console of my boat.

At the end of the day you can remove the bag and there is a zipper on the bottom to dump the contents out.

There are several sites that sell them online.

Garbage goes back in my tackle bag or pockets to be emptied at home.

Check those pockets before putting your clothes in the washer…

What goes in I bring out, unless there are garbage receptables. Some places I fish have special receptables for fishing line. Also I am in the habit of picking up after others.

I always find more garbage at the lakes then I produce when I go fishing. I keep a couple bags in my tackle bag so if I find stuff while I'm out on the water I'll take it back to the ramp.

I also keep a bag in my boat for scrap line that I find or produce, a majority of our lakes have line recycling bins. Unfortunately too many people decide to put their trash in them too since they can't walk another 20 feet to put it in the actual garbage.
