waymont Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 This season I decided to try two baits considered classics that I have never tried. I guess there's a reason these baits are so well respected. Both have been catching numbers, and good size bass. I guess I'll be stocking two more baits to keep in regular rotation. Try the classics! Culprit 7.5" red shad Yamamoto 4" Fat Ika I've been rigging the Ika with the skirt by the hook eye. Looks like a fat TRD, until to move it, then it swims erratically and sinks away from you. 5 Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted August 3, 2022 Super User Posted August 3, 2022 7.5” Culprit ribbon-tails and YCB Fat Ikas are both mainstays in my tackle box. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted August 4, 2022 Super User Posted August 4, 2022 I've been killing them on the Fat Ika this year, awesome bait. Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 4, 2022 Super User Posted August 4, 2022 I rig the Fat IKA both ways. Sometimes one attracts bites better than the other. Great bait! Quote
Functional Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 I conveniently bought some Culprit 7.5 FAT in 2 colors yesterday (before reading this)....now I'm excited to try them. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 8, 2022 Super User Posted August 8, 2022 So I have a bunch of Fat Ika baits but admit I don't fish them as much as I should. Where this bait shines for me is skipping under boat docks unweighted backwards. There's one lake that I use this technique a lot but since I quit my bass club I have not fished there in 5 years. WVU-SCPA Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 For whatever reason I moved the Fat Ika out of the rotation last fall and has been sitting on the sidelines since. I think I'll dedicate a rod tonight so it can be a player the next couple weeks. 1 Quote
