Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 2, 2022 Global Moderator Posted August 2, 2022 Tough sell, Napa Valley and civil engineer salary don’t mix well, at least here in Michigan, you’re doing it because you love it. Definitely not for the money. Quote

My dad was a civil engineer, he used to drive me around when it was storming to see which manhole covers had water shooting out of them when I was a little kid haha. I recently had a company approach me about throwing my hat in the ring for a construction manager position for them. Of course I was interested until I talked with them more about the job. I was absolutely grateful to the person who highly recommended me and extremely grateful for this company approaching me about it, but at the end of the day I let them know I wasn’t interested because this position was an office position. I need to be outside going to sites, getting my hands dirty. They did let me know there’s a field engineer position on the horizon which is more up my alley. Quote

That was before the internet I witnessed a manhole cover blowing out of the street in san francisco next to ocean beach during a day of heavy rain. I was driving around in my service truck and seen it blow like old faithfull the geyser. I woudnt want to be driving over it as it may kill you with that force. 1 Quote
