Ned Rig guys - do you find creature profiles like the Nikko Hellgrammite anywhere near as effective as the TRD or do you almost exclusively use stick baits?

Every now and then I get bored with the plain old TRD 2.75” worm and get the urge to throw something more interesting. Do you think this is a novelty/waste of time or do you think TRD crawz and the Nikko Helgrammite can be just as effective or more?

I used the Zman tubez the other day and it was effective in place of a trd.

I use a lot drop shot worms and have caught some big smallies on them in place of stick baits. I also got some Keitech 2.8 crazy flappers and the rage baby menace that work great as well.

Besided TRD, there're so many different Z-man finesse baits, at least 5,6 of them are as effective, if not better. But... I probably said too much. Yeah, keep using the TRD.

Yes. Sukushi Bug, TRD CrawZ, and the Nikko Hellgrammite have been very effective for me.

Interesting, I’d always heard that the Rage bug was too much action, that the Ned was all about subtlety?

If the smaller profile baits aren’t working for me, I’ll switch up to a Yamamoto California Roll or Pro Senko to change the profile.

Zman TRD finesse almost exclusively.

i may try the Yamamoto version one day, when i have an extra money :)  i used the use the TRD craws, but i think the tiny stick works just as well.  marginally cheaper.

Being I   possess a never ending supply of used up Dingers I just use the tail half of them . I have threaded skirt material through  them creating some  sort of bottom dwelling creature . That works well .

TRD TicklerZ are my favorite other than the finesse TRD

There is no 3" and under plastic that I wouldn't stick on a tiny jighead.

But, if I am doing the "Cha Cha" retrieve I most always use a stickbait as that seems to produce the best and last the longest.

if your fishing the classic midwest finesse yes. but sometimes i just want a smaller version of a good bait fished on light weight and light line. after a cold front, or in cold water or just a tough bite then yes id opt for somethimg with less action like the trd, ticklerz, or streakz.

The 10,000 Fish Sukoshi Bug is one of my favorite Ned baits.
