I'm chalking mine up to the November 1981 Foghat/Blue Oyster Cult concert I attended

My friend's father had a super connection for concert tickets way back. He even limo'd us in. Caught some pretty good shows. Saw Heart/BOC at Radio City in the winter of late '80, or early '81. Can't really remember exactly. Something purple was around... The mixer was on point, and nobody on stage was drunk I suppose, because both bands played meticulously. It was great.

Closest they get to MO is Tulsa, OK on Sept 15

No WT on that one...Trivium (heavy metal band out of Florida) is with them

Though a longer trip - Oct 3 in Sioux Falls, SD, it's IM and WT

Got a work friend whose an IT guy from our corporate office whose had tickets to this show for months. Every time I see him he's like hey just 6 months...5 months...4 months. The plant I work at is only 40 miles from Sioux Falls...corporate offices are there.

I listen to all types of music, and I mean a very, very broad range of music.  Pretty much everything except opera and hard rap.  It just depends on what mood I'm in.  So ya, metal?  You bet!

Replace 'opera' with 'country' and that's me...ya, I like some opera

Back in college - I was assistant stage manager for the production of 'Susannah'...kinda coerced into it by a friend who's minor was theater and was stage manager for it. I actually enjoyed my time doing that.

Used to LOVE soundgarden. Still listen to them sometimes. Chris Cornell was an amazing singer, RIP.

Agreed! Loved their music and still listen now and again

Heck ya. I saw Rammstein 8 years ago or so. Great show.

Disturbed ya. I used to listen to Maiden religiously but not anymore. In fact the past couple years I've been listening to Billie Holiday a ton, and the great sax players like John Coltrane, Stan Getz and Lester Young.

I love that stuff.

This music keeps me calm and I need that these days. It's so relaxing, especially driving. If I'm on a long drive then I'm screaming with Disturbed or torturing the German language singing with Rammstein.

Most days now I just wanna be mellow. Too much in the world that agitates me already.

Hate:

Guns n Roses. Specifically Axel Rose. Who the heck listened to that guy sing and said, "Yeah, he's awesome let's hire him!" Especially the ballads, my frickin gawd he's awful.

Like my music theory teacher said - "You can make good music or you can make money with music, it is very rare to do both"

I listen to everything pretty much except the rap crap basically. Lately though I’ve been listening to queensryche. It was my dads favorite band found a few ticket stubs from when he saw them in the early 90s. Few old posters of theirs in his apartment as we were cleaning it out. Got them as my pandora station currently in his memory. I never listened to them specifically but listen to all the other bands mentioned and frequently played on their station.

Well like I stated above been listening to Queensryche pandora station now I’m on like this 80s hair metal kick. Been buying a bunch on iTunes so I can play when ever I feel like it. So far I’ve been jamming out to a lot of Ratt, Scorpions, Alice cooper, The Cult, Judas Priest, Night Ranger, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Lita Ford & Ozzy.

I need a better radio in my truck I’ve changed all my speakers already since I blew the stock ones last year. I need a new head unit to power then though. Probably see about doing a sub or something in it not much room in a Tacoma though.

Sweet one! Like some others you've posted, there's a beauty to the melody. Juxtaposed with metal it's very interesting. Like yin and yang.

i'm kind of all over the place with this.  i like traditional stuff,  sabbath, purple, priest,  maiden, etc.

but i like the 80's stuff alot too, ratt, accept, Y&T, queensryche, dokken, loudness...

i also like stoner/doom stuff: monster magnet, clutch, red fang, king weed, thunderhawk...

but just as likely to also play things that don't fit in, like thundermother, hardbone, band maid, babymetal, texas hippie coalition...

however,  i play some stuff that's not even rock.  a little country but it can't be newer than the 90's.  i like swing/big band stuff like benny goodman or glenn miller, lots of delta and swamp blues,  or even truly weird stuff (according to most folks i know)  like yoshida brothers,  or 12 girls band, or random tsugaru shamisen or music with kodo, shakuhachi, piri, koto, erhu, gayaguem or geomungo

I am incredibly jealous of that.

Enjoy some types of metal - concerts include Iron Maiden, Megadeath, Metallica, and Queensryche. Non-concert bands I also enjoy  Dio, Sabbaton, Flotsam & Jetsam, British Lion, and some Slayer. Plan on seeing Maiden in South Dakota soon.

i've seen them 6 times, the first in 83,  the last in 2016 (i think, or right around then)

i used to play kk's parts in a priest tribute band.  i  copied his stage outfit from british steel, had the white vee, the whole 9 yards.  at one time i could play any priest song note for note, from their first album, all the way to ram it down, and about half of painkiller.  i don't remember most of that now, i haven't played their catalog in a looong time.  man, those were fun times. we did other shows, (sabbath and ac/dc) and original stuff too, depending on the gig. we were popular, and had a chance to go big, but God stopped me in the nick of time,  the night we were to sign the contract. i was lucky, because i would not have survived it.  by coincidence, my previous tenant was the singer from that band, my current tenant is the other guitar player.
