At least around here that I'm aware of. I agree with you. Unless you are rich and can fly to one of their one off shows or are lucky enough to live where they do a one off, smaller venue show, you are going to see them in an arena if you want to see them. I did and the sound was great and I could see the band clearly from where I was at. Now granted it wasn't intimate or anything like when I was on the rail in front of the stage at Megadeth and caught a guitar pick. 1 Quote

Because heavy metal is meant to be listened to loud!!! I like Vinnie Paul (RIP) answer about wearing ear plugs on stage. He said it was like sex. Do you want to feel it and experience all of it or do you want to be safe? It's up to the person. Quote

I might try to snag some tickets for it. They are quite expensive though. They're playing 2 nights here too, 1 night with the new Pantera lineup. I've seen Metallica a few times and they are amazing live. I've also seen Pantera a couple of times and would kill to see them one more time, even without Vinny and Dime. Good tickets start at like $1000 each though, tough call. 1 Quote

The terrible part is that between 80% and 90% of that money goes to the venue and the ticket agencies (Ticket Master/StubHub, which are the same company) and other things like their agents and record companies and PR/advertising firms. 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 14, 2023 Super User Posted August 14, 2023 This is a scummy money grab by the singer. Quote
Eric 26 Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 I know this is kind of late but I went and saw Corey Taylor at the Riviera Theater in Chicago last Thursday. First off he was amazing but even the 2 warm up acts were awesome. First up was The Oxymorrons rap/metal infusion which was awesome then a band from England called WARGASM male and female singers who tore it up. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 8, 2023 Super User Posted September 8, 2023 Wargasm might be the greatest band name ever. 2 Quote
Eric 26 Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 @J Francho The name is definitely awesome and as I said the male and female vocalist’s were both pretty amazing. 1 Quote

Super User bulldog1935 Posted September 8, 2023 Super User Posted September 8, 2023 On Sunday bike rides, my friend Tim is always playing modern cool jazz - I've asked him before to bring 60s R&B - likewise, Van seems to always be playing the Turtles. I asked them both last week - Hey, does that thing play Iggy Pop? 1969 punk 2 Quote

cheezyridr Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 what people call "heavy metal" today, is not what we listened to back in the 80's when i was still young and had more energy than i knew what to do with. these days, i seem to gravitate more towards hard rock. one of my favorite bands recently-ish was thundermother: the guitar player, fillippa nassil fired the entire band after a couple of really good records, and got a new line up. they put out a couple good records, then she fired them too. only this time, the band she fires said "eff me? no, eff YOU!!!" they started their own band called "the gems". they're fantastic, and their opening salvo scores a direct hit at thundermother's waterline another really good band was "the amorettes" a scottish band, who also put out several good records. but then they broke up and reformed as "the hot d**n". the music is terrible, i won't subject you to it. if you liked the go-go's, maybe you'd like the hot dam, you can look them up if you want to, but for me, Quote
Eric 26 Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 So my daughter took me to the “Pierce The Veil” concert Thursday night at the Arragon Ballroom in Chicago. They brought 3 openers Destroy Boys, Dayseeker and LS Dunes which out of the 3 LS Dunes are worth seeking out imho. Pierce The Veil was absolutely awesome and being in a small setting made it even better. I haven’t been in the Aaragon Ballroom in 25 plus years and it reconfirmed my love of the venue as the sound is absolutely amazing. Although I listen to some Pierce the veil music after Thursdays show I’ll be listening a lot more and deeper into their catalog, I found their style to be a mix of Smashing Pumpkins meets Bullet for my valentine. 1 Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted December 5, 2023 Super User Posted December 5, 2023 @Eric 26 I’ve seen Pierce the Veil once or twice back in the day. They were usually the act right before the headliners. They put on a good show. 1 Quote
