Super User LrgmouthShad Posted August 1, 2022 Super User Posted August 1, 2022 Hey ya’ll, My playlist is Judas Priest, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Rammstein, TOOL, Slipknot, Slayer, and I enjoy many others. Genuinely like all music though. Grew up listening to Country 6 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted August 1, 2022 Super User Posted August 1, 2022 Symphonic Metal is my game Delain, Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Xandria are my main groups...but there's others out there. Closest any popular group in the US gets to that is Evanescence...who toured with Within Temptation on their European leg in 2021...and Amy Lee has done duets with Sharon den Adel (WT's singer) a couple times. 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 1, 2022 Global Moderator Posted August 1, 2022 Looks like a good list to me. I also enjoy Korn, Godsmack, Disturbed, Stoned Sour, Chevelle, several others. 3 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted August 1, 2022 Super User Posted August 1, 2022 Back in the 90's I loved Pantera, also really like Sepultura, NIN, Megadeath, White Zombie, Anthrax and possibly more that I can't think of off the top of my head. While maybe not on the "metal" level, I also enjoyed me some Soundgarden, Nirvana, AIC, STP, Pearl Jam, Metallica, and I'm sure I missed some there as well. The only time I listen to music these days is on long car rides and 99% of the time I am with the family so it's usually something we can all agree on, which isn't heavy metal. Every now and again if I'm on the couch by myself I will pull up some stuff on Youtube and reminisce about the good ol days. 4 Quote

I think some people could argue that some of the bands I listed are not quite metal either 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 1, 2022 Super User Posted August 1, 2022 I enjoy a lot of metal, but my tastes demand melody and 'singing' and reject screaming, growling, yelling, etc. I enjoy quite a bit of the classic metal and nu-netal bands mentioned above. I am a sucker for some of the best vocalists....Dickinson, Dio, Halford...could sing Julie Andrews covers and I'd listen to them I can be snobbish about my tastes... also contradicting and illogical...but I am always correct...LOL 3 Quote

Sharon den Adel - Within Temptation Charlotte Wessels - Delain Tarja Turunan - Nightwish (first vocalist) Floor Jansen - Nightwish (current vocalist) 2 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 1, 2022 Global Moderator Posted August 1, 2022 Cousin Eddie is a metal head. Me, not so much. 1 Quote

Super User MN Fisher Posted August 2, 2022 Super User Posted August 2, 2022 Just an aside - Within Temptation is currently touring with Iron Maiden I got my ticket for the October 4th concert in Minneapolis...unfortunately it's one of the dates that IM won't be with them. (sighs) Quote

(sighs) Oh boy…. That would be a good one. Iron Maiden is another great. “Fear of the Dark” was like one of the introductory metal songs for me. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted August 2, 2022 Super User Posted August 2, 2022 Mastodon, Meshuggah, The Locust are few I currently listen to. Sabbath, Maiden, and Judas Priest are groups I've really liked. I wouldn't consider myself a metal head though. The first track off Black Sabbath's first album might be the most metal thing I ever heard. Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted August 2, 2022 Super User Posted August 2, 2022 As a kid I listened to Cream, Hendrix, some Sabbath. Not much now. 2 Quote

No, it’s just downright spooky. I feel like wherever I am, lights need to be on or the sun needs to be out when I listen to it. That should go on the “What are you scared of?” Thread 3 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted August 3, 2022 Super User Posted August 3, 2022 i blame my hearing (or lack of) on a Metallica concert. maybe Gun/Roses. i love the stuff of my youth. i do however wish i had the foresight to stuff hearing plugs in my ears. i remember concerts being very inexpensive. but the cost to my hearing might not be worth the cost of admission. i didnt do myself any favors. 1 Quote

Super User Boomstick Posted August 3, 2022 Super User Posted August 3, 2022 I used to be a big metalhead. My general rule was if it doesn't raise demons from hell, it's probably not for me. I still play some time to time. You may find bands like Testament, Exodus, Megadeth, Slayer, Death Angel, Heathen, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Fates Warning in my playlist time to time as well as many of the older metal bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple etc who generally classify as rock these days. I play more prog and jazz and some blues these days. 1 Quote

Still have a chance - even though 3 of the original members aren't with them anymore (keyboardist Al Lanier died in 2013, the Bouchard brothers left the end of 81) - as long as Eric and 'Buck' are still there, it's still BOC. 2022 concert dates - http://www.blueoystercult.com/OnTour.html Quote
