Im throwing these on a 3/8 oz texas rig. The lake is decently clear and pretty deep but has a pretty big patch of submerged grass. Should I choose some different colors as well or buy some different products? Any advice is greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

I would use a magic crawl swirl too, it’s just green pumpkin with a beautiful shiny blue swirled in and it really makes the bait look way more alive, to my eyes anyway. It might be called something different in different brands but most companies make it.

Welcome to BR. California is a big state so what region of the State Northern, Central or SoCal?

It helps to give better advice knowing the general area or if willing name the lakes you fish.

So you are in SoCal San Diego area.

Lake Miramar, haven’t fished there in decades!

From what I read in WON the lake was very low and rising but closed to boats as the ramp is out of water.

Early morning and late evening try shade colored square bill crank baits. Miramar was always a purple soft plastic lake.

From shore I suggest using a Slip Shot rig on spinning tackle with 6” Roboworms MM111 or Nail weight. 5” Senko wacky rigged color 301 or 330 (both have purple flakes). Use Yamamoto Senko’s!

With the water rising the bass tend to be next to the bank early and follow the shad as the sun gets past 9A.

Lake Poway is very similar to Miramar and close by.

PS, SDFish has local fish reports.
