Suggest a BC and braided line for frogs

Looking for a good baitcaster for throwing frogs and a good braid to match with it, so i can still get some of those lighter frogs to cast out a bit farther. I have a good frog rod, just need the rest of the system. Would like to keep it at a reasonable price. If you have something that works well for you, please let me know. Thanks for any and all help.

Opinions on which specific reel will certainly vary, but you want something with high max drag, and decent line capacity. I use a Lew’s Mach Crush and minimum of 50lb Power Pro braid, but more often my reel is spooled with 65lb braid. I can sling a Pad Crasher Jr a mile with this rig, even with a Mag-Heavy rod. You essentially want a heavy duty reel and line to match the heavy duty rod. The reel and line need to be strong enough to be able to assist the rod in hoisting bass out of the pads, hyrdilla, chestnut, or whichever matted weeds you’re fishing in.

I use a Tatula CT and 50 lb suffix performance braid. Both of which I feel fall into the reasonably priced category.

Also use a Tatula CT 150 reel, with 50lb smackdown line.

Currently I have Fins Original PRT in 60# spooled on a Curado 201E7.  May go to 50# braid when it comes time to change out the line.  I have some Fins 45# 40G that I'm thinking about using locally for frogs...among other techniques.  The Curado was for use on my dedicated frog rod I keep in Florida.  However, I don't keep my reels there, so I can use it locally as well.

Shimano Tranx 200 or 150 with 50-65lb braid. Personally, I use 50lb P-Line X braid and really like it.

I fish a lot of docks and low hanging tree limbs (shade) with a frog. So, I skip a lot. I love Daiwa reels with the SV spool. I've learned that I can set my brakes at half or so and bomb long casts and then crank the brakes to about 2/3 (16-18 on a Tatula) and skip like a pro. As soon as I'm done skipping for a few casts I lower the brakes back to half and keep bombing away. Best of both worlds, in my opinion. 

 

And I use 30-40lb PowerPro braid.
