radiant Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 I have alot of 3/0 EWG hooks and was thinking of buying some Zoom Ultra Vibe speed craws. Does it fit a 3/0 ok or more towards a 2/0. My lake has a good amount of clarity and I have had luck with both GP and Watermelon red but last time I went fishing a bass spit up a orange craw so I am not really sure what color to pick up. Also, is there a difference between the Ultra Vibe Speed craw and the Super speed craw? 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 I use a 3/0 hook in the UV speedcraw all the time. The hook will go back toward the end of the bait body, but it will fit. The UV speedcraw is more compact. The claws are smaller. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 Not all 3/0 hooks are the same size, a 2/0 or 3/0 depending on the brand will work. I bend a 1/0 round bend to have a shorter shank and a larger gap, in a pinch I will use a EWG, but bend it a tad so the point isn't in line with the tie. Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 I looked at the body diameter of the speed craw recently after buying a couple of packs and can tell you that I will be throwing them on a 3/0 RB. Hook selection for soft plastics for me is very simple. When I can use a round bend, I will use a round bend. It is my preference over EWG. I use a EWG when I don’t have a round bend that will fit the bait and still provide enough gap between bait size and hook gap. I like the hook gap to be about 2x the diameter of the bait I am using. That simple. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 I use a 2/0 Offset round bend hook for the Ultra Vibe Speed Craw. The 3/0 might work with the Magnum Ultra Vibe Speed Craw or the Super Speed Craw. I don't like trying to use a hook so big you don't have little bit of room to play with on your plastics. I always use a slightly smaller hook instead of trying to see if I can hook it in that last little bit of plastic. 3 Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 30, 2022 Super User Posted July 30, 2022 I prefer offset round bend hooks. Never had any luck with the Super. 1 Quote

But im not sure if I should pick up that color or stick to just a full GP or Watermelon red flake Quote
Super User bowhunter63 Posted July 30, 2022 Super User Posted July 30, 2022 3/0 hook or a bitsy bug jig Quote
Super User Munkin Posted July 31, 2022 Super User Posted July 31, 2022 These only work for me as a jig trailer for some reason. Allen Quote

Drew03cmc Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 I throw the Uv Speed Craw on either a 1/8oz stand up head or a 2/0 Gamakatsu G Finesse Worm hook. They're fantastic baits. I love them on the jighead for river smallies. Quote
