I’m sorry for this but my boat buying power are days gone by now at 65. I’ve owned 5 beautiful boats in the past used and new but from moving around too much I’m on shore and it sucks! I live in a major league bass fishery up here in no idaho. just hurts mentally to not be on the water.

if I sell my 2008 GMC Sierra extended cab 4x4 beautiful truck I’d be miserable just not having it anymore. God gave me my truck! Yes I’m asking God too! Downgrade into something safe for winter and find me a nice boat. Would u sell or suffer? I paid cash 14k for my truck in ‘19 and the truck is paid for.

I can’t make more than 960.00 a month if I return to work PT or I’ll lose my health benefits.  I tried a title loan on wed with a credit union but haven’t heard back. So that means you didn’t get approved. I think either way I’ll suffer. I love my truck

I kinda go with a rule.  it's based on Need vs Want.

I have to have a few things lined up prior to a bigger purchase.  like a big reserve if things go bad.  that $4k loan gets bigger if you factor in interests.  you have one great thing...a good truck that is paid off.  dont mess that up.  a lesser truck that blows up a transmission when you dont have the money in reserved...bad juju.

So let me get this right. God co-signed on a truck for you and now you want to sell it to buy a glorified Jon boat to bass fish in northern Idaho.
Stands to bring up another question. Will you  be walking the boat down the ramp because you don’t have a truck? How’s that gonna look getting it back on the trailer?
My connection to the Devine may be clouded sometimes in part due to Heineken, late nights and poor decisions, but I think I can sift thru this one…

Keep your truck chief..

Get a part time job making $900 a month.  Work 4 or 5 months and you'll have your $3 to $4 k for a boat.  No debt needed.   There's plenty of jobs now, at least here in NC.

Work a PT job, save your money, pay cash for a suitable boat.  I may be off base but it sounds as if going into debt would not be a good thing for you.  Good luck.

How big is the body of water you mainly fish?

May be better off keeping the truck and getting a Bass Raider.

A paid for truck is a luxury a lot of people don't have. Look for the cheapest jon boat you can find and rig it yourself.

Either find work locally doing odd jobs for friends and neighbors, or get a part time gig that pays less than $960 a month.  There are a ton of places out there that need people to work on weekends and holidays that will be more than willing to meet your needs.  Save that up, and you'll get your boat in no time.

You'll likely find that you enjoy the work, because you'll be out there meeting new people.  And since you won't be working that much, it won't wear you down.  And if it does, well, you don't need it, so you can easily quit and find a different one.

Thanks i have been applying for pt jobs and did get a call back from a grocery store but when I told him I have dialysis 2 days a week he ended the call. Unbelievable!  Thanks I’ll keep trying. I had a 12’ aluminum I picked up in April for only 200 but I had no trailer and it was too much to deal with in the back of the truck loading unloading. Very uncomfortable and just couldn’t set it up!

my dog went in for surgery and the vet traded for my boat Minnkota battery and charger. I made 250 on the boat . Vet bills pretty darn steep.

Dang this sounds like a country song..

not sure if you have any skills that people would pay for that you could do on the side. If so you can make yourself some $ and not worry about how much you make and can set your own schedule.

I wish you the best and keep your chin up.

If that's the reason he refused to interview you - you might have a case under the ADA and EEOC. An employer is required under law to make reasonable accommodations for persons undergoing medical treatment. Refusal to hire based on medical condition is illegal unless the medical condition makes it impossible to do the job.

I would keep the truck and also keep your eyes open. You may find a boat for cheaper than expected. This economy has people selling stuff all the time. You may find a good deal on a boat especially something that may need a little work on it.

Yes but my problem is I have no cash no 3 or 2 k for the best of deals. Bank turned me down but it’s all my fault.

Keep the truck and just be patient in your search. I actually just bought my 19’ Silverado for a steal….but after searching for 4-5 months. Ended up being a customer lease which was returned at lease term and is immaculate. Saved serious coin as well.

You never know with things. Just be patient and something will come along!

But DON’T sell the truck!

Thank you sir. Tks to all .  Wheels besides rent has to be tops. I had my chances with beautiful paid for fishing  boats. It’s rough living with your mistakes when your no longer in purchasing power! Sure I could find a decent used truck I’ve done it before but I love my ‘08 GMC Sierra. I get out and work for it and hoping at 65, I can get hired .

Ever thought about a kayak? Not sure how your strength and balance is. But sliding a kayak into and out of the bed of a truck is fairly easy and a cart to roll it down to waters edge.  I imagine the waters in Northern Idaho might be pretty chilling for taking a unintended dip. So that might be a serious drawback.

Not sure what options are available in your area. But watching for auctions w/boats and searching classifieds can often find a gem of a deal.  Especially true if you or a good friend (that works for beer) have any mechanical skills to repair a motor that has been sitting.  Where there is a will there is a way! And god helps those who help themselves and others.
