Dannyinorthidaho Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 When running crank baits, dt 3,6,12, jerkbaits etc I’ve been using snaps to the rings but snaps without swivels. I don’t like it. I much more prefer a swivel especially ifhooking pike. They sold me snaps and I thought about it but bought them anyway. Will using a small but good ball bearing swivel hamper the lure action to a noticeable degree? What works best? Thank you Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 I don't use snaps much less swivels on cranks or jerks Oval split rings on cranks, teardrop split rings on jerks - direct tie to the split ring. 2 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 If you want to use a swivel, use a swivel, but I can't think of an objective reason why one would want to. 1 Quote
Dannyinorthidaho Posted July 29, 2022 Author Posted July 29, 2022 Tying mono or fc to a split ring might damage my knot at the split end but I’m no mathematical person. Ball bearing swivels protect the fight more from the fish bc of rotation and not bending a reg snap. I’m not worried about the split ring bending! I’ve been using the snap and I’m hooking smallies. I guess I’ll put on a swivel and compare the actions Quote
