Bass_Fanatic Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I just bought two new batteries for my boat and Im not real sure how good they are. I have always used EverStart Max Marine batteries and they show the amount of amp hours, such as 130ah. But the new Alliance batteries I jsut bought say nothing about amp hours, but 160 RC. Im not sure what RC means, but I think its Reserve Capacity. Is this the same as amp hours? Will these batteries hold up? Im thinking about bringing them back and finding a battery with amp hours, but would like some insight before I do. Thanks! Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 So if my math is right...and it always is (lol)...I got a big momma deep cycle with 190 RC. Thats 190 minutes running @ 25 amps. So, 190*25=4750 So 4750 amp/minutes... 4750/60=79.16 amp/hours This was the biggest battery Battery Warehouse carries. My Everstart Maxx from Wal-Mart had 125 amp/hours. Am I missing something? This Big Momma was alot more money too! Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted August 20, 2010 Super User Posted August 20, 2010 Well, it's a little late to be asking now. Just for the heck of it, I tried to do a little research on that brand. First, I found nothing showing they make a deep cycle battery, only cranking and dual purpose. Dual Purpose give up RC to get the needed CCA. 160 min RC is only going to be about a 75Ah battery. I couldn't find anything about who makes them or what kind of plates they have. So, it boils down to you bought the old Pig in the Poke. Stick with the well known, top names and you don't have to worry about this stuff. Even Wally world batteries, you can find out what composition the plates are made of. Quote
