hurts much more than any paper cut.   haha.  I absently mindedly sometimes will pull on my line by hand which results in a cut.  it always happens where the fingers bend.  the joints.  good times.  I wear sungloves but I seem to get myself on the fingerless unprotected parts.  thin, light braid?  like a razor.

I sometimes think I should tape my fingers on good fishing days.  :)

I do it from time to time and it happens in the same spot as you. When you’re in the heat of the moment trying to pull in a big bass you don’t think about the ensuing pain.

Never pull on braid.if stuck on something wrap it around a wood dowel. Get a net.

Solution:  Stop doing that.

Point rod at the snag, lock the spool with your finger , back it up until something breaks.

X2.  I hold the spool and use the boat’s trolling motor to break the line.

Or it comes loose and pops you square in the mouth, resulting in a visit to the dentist....

Those cuts do hurt and take forever to heal up.  I end up doing it tying braid to fluoro while cinching the knot.  Just dumb

Unless you realize that and hold the rod at waist height instead...  Ask me how I know.

No hooks taken, just a 3/8 oz jig straight back to the manbits.

I always get a cut in the exact same spot, the side of the first joint of the pointer finger on my right hand.  I throw flukes and poppers a ton during the warmer months which always ends up causing a lot of loose line on the spool so I am always tugging at it to tighten it. My solution, when I remember, is to do a single wrap of first aid tape around that joint before I start for the day.
