rboat Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I have an older shimano spinning reel. I love the reel, but at times the bail snaps closed when I make a cast. I know it is fully opened and ready. Anyone know if there is a fix? Thanks. Quote
QED Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Might need a replacement bail spring. Not definitive, but definitely a possibility. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted July 25, 2022 Super User Posted July 25, 2022 Send it to DVT and you'll be fine. Quote
mrpao Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I have a shimano spirex that did that. Not all the time but every once in a while. I never did investigate to see what the issue was. It didn't do enough to make me want to check it out. I would assume it has something to do with a weak bail spring or the friction ring not seated properly. Quote
garroyo130 Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I dont think thats a spring issue, i believe its the friction ring that causes that. It's a super easy fix if you can source the part. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Yes on the friction ring. Send it at your convenience if you wish. Quote
