Ski Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 Could not help but notice neither the MLF Pro series nor B.A.S.S. elites fished in California this year any reason why?? Quote
Super User gim Posted July 25, 2022 Super User Posted July 25, 2022 Drought? Wild fires? Both? Seems like the pro events at that level haven't ventured west for a while. I don't even remember the last time the Elites had an event west of Texas. Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 25, 2022 Global Moderator Posted July 25, 2022 The unspoken reason is travel. Since the majority of touring pro’s don’t want to drive thier rigs across the country and back, and given that not enough of them live west of the Mississippi and certainly not west of the Rockies to field a competitive tournament. Super User roadwarrior Posted July 25, 2022 Super User Posted July 25, 2022 Well, Memphis is kinda in the middle of the country and a round trip to Cali would be six days. Gonna pre-fish? Then three days on the lake. That's a big commitment if you are not among the top competitors. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 25, 2022 Super User Posted July 25, 2022 They keep hitting the Mississippi up here - when are they going to return to Mille Lacs? 1 Quote

Hopefully not for a while lol. The pressure there has increased ten fold since they were here in 2015/2016 and now the word is out because of it. Mobridge, SD on Lake Oahe will be an interesting destination. They were at Pierre a few years ago but Mobridge is further north. Quote

marmooskapaul Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Until tournaments start paying 500,00 to the winner and have no entree fees, it's probably not worth it monetarily for pro's anymore. Quote

The last few times the B.A.S.S. Opens tried it out west they couldn't fill the field. Yes, I realize that the Opens are not the Elites. Quote
InfantryMP Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 I am sure the money is also related to the taxes from winnings, coupled with the travel required to get there. I bet that is one of the reason MDJ moved from Cali to Alabama when he started to really get in to the pro circuits. Quote
