Im trying to get into shaky head fishing but I cant decide what colors to buy. Im picking up a few packs of the Net bait finesse t-mac in green pumpkin but cant decide if I should get Junebug or watermelon candy. I fish pretty clear waters, does watermelon candy work better than Junebug or visa versa? Sorry for the question I never fished junebug color before.

I think you go with black grape and I'll tell you why. That is a color that is good in both clear and stained water. Watermelon candy is more of a color for clear to lightly stained water and Junebug is more of a stained water color. If you are hung up on just those two colors go with Junebug. I do better with Junebug in stained water but I have had success with it in clearer water as well.

I use Elaztech for shaky.  Lately green pumpkin, watermelon red, watermelon candy, purple haze, California craw, dirt, and junebug have been pretty good for me, but Alabama craw has been the best.

Green Pumpkin and Watermelon w/ Red Flakes are all you really NEED,

but I fish several other colors, too.

This is pretty much gospel for ANY soft plastic technique.

Green pumpkin/red flake, watermelon/purple, and black would get me by for any shakyhead fishing I do.

Junebug works in all water clarities and so does black, black grape, whatever. It’s just a color. I have a propensity towards blacks and purples for worms, especially red-purple shades right now and if I want a lighter color, watermelon red or watermelon candy are good. I do not like freaking green pumpkin. Green pumpkin is bland and gross.

So my answer is get both lol

Don’t let these guys fool ya… I bet they got bin of plastics in all colors….. it’s all you need….. just buy both of them.

Just be like the rest of us and buy all the colors.  It stings a little at first, but when you just “go with it” it gets easier.

But really.. get green pumpkin, watermelon with red flake, June bug first… then all the other colors.

The Deal by Z-Man has been the only color I've needed for a while unless the water has less than 2 feet of visibility, in which case Junebug comes out.  This is a shad imitating son of a gun.

The first shaky head worms I got (a coworker just handed me a pack) were some version of purple. They worked well. In the Trick Worm I like bubblegum, limetreuse, pumpkins and watermelons. I'm not a firm believer that color matters a whole lot. The first time I tried the shaky head I caught a 6 pounder. You can use all kinds of thin worms on a shaky head. I've used the Zoom Ultravibe Speed Worm with success. A Zoom UV Craw works well in one too. Just have to size the hook for the bait.

Green pumpkin and solid black are what I use most. Other colors work I have just been trying to simplify things.

Blue sapphire has always been my go to, second choice is green with any dark flakes.

T Mac in Texas Craw has been my best cleaner water color

If I were you I would get GP and Junebug.  GP and watermelon are interchangable most of the time.

If I had to recommend 1 worm in 1 color for SH it would have to Grande Bass airtail wiggler in Trophy hunter, which is a watermelon red/junebug laminate.  It works in really clear and dirty water.  The real draw for me is the fact that they always stand up because of the tail.  It makes them a killer neko/SH worm and great on a t rig as well.  Been doing well cutting off the last 3" of worn out baits and using them for ned rigs too.
