Tail Slap Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I agree one of the new Zillions G, HD, or Silver Wolf PE. I have the Silver Wolf and will be pickup up a HD version as well. Al9ng with my 18 Zillion TW HD covers quite a bit . Quote
Super User casts_by_fly Posted July 26, 2022 Super User Posted July 26, 2022 I jus got my zillion jdm in the mail today. It was about an hour too late for my fishing trip tonight but I’ll get it out later this week. First impressions are good. It’s smaller than I expected. If obviously very smooth while spooling it up. Need to cast it and see how it plays. Quote

The oil will cut the factory grease. It'll cast better quickly after it mixes. 1 Quote

I know Shimano tends to go with a heavy grease that's better if its cleaned out. I'll give it a once over today and cast it around in the pool. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted July 28, 2022 Super User Posted July 28, 2022 I was nosing around JDM website. I am a bit confused. Google Translate isn't any help. Who has the Daiwa decoder ring? XH, HLC, SH, XHL, SV, PL, HL, SV, H, TW...my head is spinning. And I already have a bunch of Daiwas, but I haven't kept up. What are some of the key acronym meanings? Quote

Super User casts_by_fly Posted July 28, 2022 Super User Posted July 28, 2022 TW is T-wing I believe. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 28, 2022 Super User Posted July 28, 2022 LW refers to Level Wind worm gear, pitch is how fast the level travels spreading the line across the spool. Higher pitch travels faster. Trade off is more line coming off the spool ends. Narrow spool with TW line travel to spool ends has little affect on casting distance. Wider spool without TW the level wind can slow down line coming off the spool. Tom Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted July 29, 2022 Super User Posted July 29, 2022 I would almost definitely go with something with the SV spool, whether it's a Tatula or Zillion. To me, that's the best way to see what Daiwa is about. Be sure to use it for skipping docks. 1 Quote
txchaser Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Pretty sure these are right: Slow (6.x retrieve) Normal (7.x) X Fast (8.x) 1 Quote
