have you EVER bought anything significant from a door to door salesperson?

When it comes to door to door salesman and the I don't even let them get started with their routine. I politely tell them that we're not interested. If that doesn't work I close the door on them.

Nope.  The salesmen that come around here are usually home remodeling contractors.

Last time we had any come to our door was after a bad storm. Roofing contractors wanting to give me a ‘free’ roof inspection for any possible damage. I’d already spotted them on my neighbor’s roof kicking shingles loose. ? Needless to say I told him to hit the road. They already had their ladder propped up against the roof and wanted to get pushy about it. My other neighbor was a cop so a quick phone call cured any further problems.

When I was little a blind man use to go door to door selling brooms . My Mom bought one from him every time if we needed one or not .

We don’t get many anymore.  A security salesman was absolutely the pushiest one Ive ever had. He thought he would eventually wear me down . He was not successful…

I do sales for my work, but thank God I’m not required to knock doors. I do put out door hangers fairly often though…

People call me to come to their house and are still scared when I come to the door. In their defense, I’m usually pretty dirty

I have no tolerance for door to door sales people.  We don't even open the door.  We give them 3 choices via our video door bell.  

1. Leave

2. Wait for the police and be charged with trespassing.

3. Try to break in and meet their maker.

 I back in 2005 living in las vegas in a apartment had a knock on the door, i answered and it was 2 girls selling subscriptions to magazines.

They gave me the sales pitch and a magazine list. I read about groups traveling the country and stopping in towns to sell mag subscripts and I was not going buy any mag. I tried to get rid of them when they informed me of the prices.

Prices? yes prices for their services. They gave me their number and i talked with them for a bit, they told me they were in vegas for 2 weeks and realized they could make tons of money the old fashioned way if the magazine sale didnt pan out. 

This is vegas, strange things go on here. I was living across from Nellis air force base which was a wild troublesome area which probably drew them here.

They hung around the apt complex using our pool and hot tub for 2 weeks shacking up in my friends room.

When we got windows put in we had the local place who was known as the best come out and give the demo.  I told him he was first on our list of people so we would not be making a decision today.  He persisted with his pitch and kept asking if we were going to do the deal today to which i declined each time.  it got to the point where i said look buddy i am NOT buying from you today and if you don't find your way out right now, I will help you find your way out.

 

It's a shame that it even has to get to the point of having to be rude.

IMHO definitely necessary at times though.

I would never want to be a sales person. If someone wasn't interested in whatever product i was trying to sell, I'd simply say "okay, thanks for your time. Have a nice day!" 

I probably wouldn't last long in that job doing that lol

Neither would I.  My brother is a sales rep for a steel/metal company in Chicago and he is d**n good at it.  It takes time to develop business relationships though.  They don't happen over night.
