Clumsy fisherman Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Has anyone used the above baitcaster? What do you think about it? Quote

A kid from Canada Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 I like the performance, decent distance, good control. Brakes have a nice versatile tune to them. The T Wing guide has alot of play in it as does the clutch. The whole reel feels loose but I've used mine for Pike fishing as well so maybe that's too much? If you can get it for %25 off it's a yes but I wouldn't pay full price for one. I like it better than my Revo SX but Like my Tatula 150 better than anything in that price range. 1 Quote
Big Hands Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 I have a Daiwa Tatula CT100 (previous generation), and I would rather have another Shimano SLX MGL 70 that I got soon after purchasing the Daiwa. The SLX MGL 70 casts noticeably further with the same weight, or the same distance with less weight IME. 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted July 22, 2022 Super User Posted July 22, 2022 If you are familiar with the Tatula CT and want a similar reel made smaller and to hold less line, or thinner line than you will like the Tatula 100. As @Big Hands mentioned, the SLX MGL 70 will cast noticeably further on the same rod with the same weight even with the brakes maxed and the brakes way down or even off on the Tatula. It's just how the different braking systems work. The Tatula will give you better control if you are making targeted casts, but a lot of the times what I am doing with 10-12# line that you would run on a Tatula 100 is throwing a moving bait where the extra distance is welcomed rather than skipping, pitching or making short targeted casts which is where Daiwa wins. The 100 and tatula ct have the same spool dimensions and hold the same amount of line. Same with the fuego ct and the tatula elites reels. Fun fact: for $45 you can drop a tatula elite long cast spool into a tatula 100, tatula ct or fuego ct. 5 1 Quote

The box on my Tatula 100 lists slightly less line and also thinner diameters for the same line rating than my Tatula CTs. But the CTs are prior gen and I'm not entirely sure if they re-did the 100. It's definitely a smaller reel than the prior gen CTs overall. Quote

ska4fun Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Very solid performer, even more so with a shallow spool, who turns it into a full-fledged longcasting reel. Quote

Its a wider reel with an aluminum side plate and the same gears as the tatula ct. Its actually the original tatula 100. The tatula ct is a skinny version of that reel with a plastic side plate. The 100 is a an all new even smaller reel with new gears however the spool is the same dimensions as the tatula ct. Daiwa also changed how they rated line capacity at the time of the new 100 and also conveniently renamed the old 100 the 150 and the old 150 the 200 when they brought them back in flat black paint. The tatula 150 is nearly 10 years old. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwatatula.html 3 Quote

Blaine Donders Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 The 100 is preferable to me in every way than an SLX. In fact, I have to look and make sure when I intend on having an sv in my hand. Other than the spool and braking system, they are the same. I have 12 of the and they are really good. Period. Compared to the Ct/150/200. Way better in hand. Better handles. Cast ability and usability? Same. Quote

My Tat 100 is pretty loose and noisy. It casts well, and is fairly smooth, but it is noisy when casting. Not one of my favorite reels, but useable. Dont think I would pay full price for another one either with all the other options out there. 2 Quote

Rather than starting a new thread I thought add to this one and ask what's out there for aftermarket spools for the tat 100. All I could find were daiwa genuine from hedgehog studio at $77 each, seems a bit high, any less expensive options out there lighter than stock? Is that long cast spool lighter than stock? Quote

There are a bunch on aliexpress and ebay. The best lighter weight long casting spool is a daiwa spool from the tatula elite. The tackle trap used to sell them. I would check there. 1 Quote
optimator Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 I’ve got a Tatula 100 & a couple of Fuego CT 100’s. I’ll be there odd man out and say I like the Fuego’s better. Quote
