Anyone like or use Falcon spinning rods? I need a new bass rod under 100. I’m also looking at Fenwick, Okuma. I’m only have 1 spin rod and it’s a 9’4 steelhead so I’m gonna buy a bass rod. I’ll be throwing top water for now, or spinnerbaits, neg rig at the docks and jetty. No longer have a boat. Thanks

I quit buying them when they moved from Ark Rods to China.  I do have at least 1/2 dozen Fenwick HMGs.  They come with a lifetime warranty and are around a c note.

I fished nothing but Falcon through the 80s and 90s.  Also kept my dad in them.

(ok, I also fished longer Lami and GL2).

Thirty years ago, they were peerless, but they also wouldn't meet your budget back then.

On your other thread I recommended 13Fishing Fate Black.  This means something.

How many threads do you need to do this (rhetorical)

He's a new member. Maybe the mods can merge the threads since they're very similar in nature.

Same here.  Use to buy only Falcon rods.  They moved manufacturing to China,  I moved on.

Of course a used US made Lowrider should be not too hard to find for under $100.

Heck I don’t care if rods are made in China, I rather they made them here but the Chinese ppl make d**n good Nissan and Toyota trucks. **** are darn smart. Wish I could find one as a fishing partner, wish I could marry me a beautiful Asian Philipino woman !

I returned my swaite rod will use the 60 for gas and buy near months end

This logic has never made any sense to me. Falcon moved production to china so now I'm going to start fishing some other brand chinese made rod in protest. Lol. Falcon still makes (arguably) the best $100.00 and $130.00 rods you can buy. You are not going to find an American made rod for much less than $160.00 and the fit and finish most likely won't be good until you hit $200.00. Even then it might not be great. My Cashion is a fantastic rod but it won't win any beauty contests.

Anyway I love my 6'10 lowrider spinning rod. Alot of folks might think the moderate action is to slow but with braid I have no problems setting hooks and it'll launch a fluke or trick worm. Then again I like Quantum reels so what the hell do I know?

One thing I just learned is that the north 40 stores here in idaho have their own swait brand rods they have that line clip at the rod butt makes it nice to slip the line just above the drop shot weight into the clip. I like that but I think they make those plastic parts that does the same thing right? I’ve never used one

the Falcon rod doesn’t have it but it’s not that big of deal. The Fenwick hmg looks to have it but in front of the reel seat. Wow tackle whose has it all. I just got my 31.00 order last eeek. Lol week

tour football head 3/8 finesse jigs some crack n craw trailers and a black widow thunder cricket

For the record.   I never said I was fishing another Chinese made rod instead of Falcon.  Never said no one should buy a Falcon rod.  Never used the word protest.  There are plenty of American made rods on the market.  I prefer to use them.  You should use what makes you happy.

I moved on because I got a good deal with the Ark Rod people.  I could get Lowriders for $21 each.

If you want the Falcon actions in a American made rod check out Virtus.

They are made by Ark Rod.  I have 2 and have been really pleased, But I don't know if they will ever be interested in getting into the $ 100 price point.. At least not yet.

They start at 200 and go to 290.

I have a bunch of falcons but none spinning.  I've shaken the spinning rods in a store and they seem comparable to the casting rods.  I like my Bucoos just fine, and for the price point I think you get a heck of a rod.

If you like your Falcon rod great, for me  I would rather spend more and have less and get quality US made stuff, plus in the case of Falcon or others I feel for those that lost their job to "offshoring" as I did.

Been happy with the Lowriders (older ones) and a couple Bucoos. I like their non crazy fast actions.

Shame they offshored, but they ain’t the only ones.

I’ve got a Falcon Mansfield spinner and it’s great for small squarebills, WP 90 and other treble hook baits due to its moderate action. Sweet rod.

For $100...it is most likely going to be a chinese built rod.  More bang for your buck as well.  As mentioned, a falcon bucco would be a good choice.

Maybe I’ll just hold off on the spinning and instead get another casting rod. Then I’ll have to fork out another 80 on a reel.
