Im curious if any of you guys have ever added a drain plug to an aluminum boat.  My cover does a decent job of keeping the rain out, but with some of the rains we've had down here lately, the hull of my boat is collecting water.  It sits at an angle on my new launch in the backyard, so right now I need to pull the batteries, flip it up on it's side and drain it like that.  Theres got to be an easy way for me to add a plug in the stern to let the excess water drain out the rear when it's not in use.

Ideas?

Yeah I found a few.  Hopefully I can find some locally.  Really don't want to pay for the shipping on a 4 dollar part.

At least I don't really have to worry about welding it in place.  That was my biggest concern.

You can get drain plugs that will let the water out.

But if you are struggling and having to tip it over, I'd suggest a wet or dry shop vacuum cleaner.  You'd be amazed how fast it will suck out the water.  Dumping the canister when it gets full is easier than tipping a boat.

Plus, you get the added benefit of removing the sediment and debris that accumulates in every boat.

I wish I could help you, but an immense sense of jealousy spreads over me.

I had the same issue, though no launch in my yard. >:) I drilled a 1/2" hole on the side my boat leans to in storage, took the top off of an electrical meter box, mounted/sealed it, and use a threaded pvc plug for the hole, cost me $2.50.
