I have some rods & reels I'd like to sell but just wondered what is the most cost effective way to ship a rod? I've hesitated because I don't want to have to pay something like $30 to ship a 7ft. rod that weighs like 6oz. or it won't be worth it to me because of how much it'll eat into my return. Thanks for any suggestions/ideas!!!

FB marketplace to locals.  Otherwise 30 is cheap nowadays.

Unfortunately where you once could ship a rod USPS Priority for $11-15 now it costs $32 and is the cheapest option.

If you want to get your mind blown go to UPS.  Week before last I was shipping a rod.  They wanted $248.00.  USPS shipped it for $32 with extra insurance added.

I shipped one out today through USPS.

It cost me right at $40. Ouch.

Use to cost around $25 or so.

Big price jump lately.

Use Pirate Ship - I sold a couple rods with the last month and got UPS shipping thru them for $27 each with $400 of insurance in hard PVC tubes.

You buy your shipping labels thru Pirate Ship and they have great tracking services too...They give you options for UPS, USPS, and I think FedEx too, but UPS is usually cheapest.

Pirate ship or fedex is your best bet. Rates have jumped up a ton. I’m more in the golf club b/s/T game, but I can imagine it’s hit fishing hard.

Do t know about Pirate but  USPS is the way to go now. $32-$40 is going rate plus you need the tube to ship them.
I keep all my old tubes just in case.

Really bad just came back for USPS, shipping 53” x 3” tube cost me 33 bucks for parcel post, priority would cost 40. Can’t imagine shipping 7’ rod. Everything goes by dimensions when over cut off point. If by weight my shipping cost would be 20 bucks or so.

If the shipping tube is under 96”and 4” diameter the cost is about $35 including insurance. 1/4” over 96” (8’) The cost added is $99. Be careful shipping 8’ swimbait rods!

Damaged shipping must be reported within 30 days of shipment. I had swimbait rods get lost and broken in half when finally arrived 40 days later.....screwed, even with tracking data and my follow up inquires with USPS,it sucks!
