Because some fishing rod companies actually give a $hit about their customers. Fenwick I broke a year ago, they offered me 50% off a new rod. St. Croix gave me a whole new top for a 2 piece after I broke that. Whether it's my fault or not, I should not be forced to pay full price for a new rod when a 5 month old MH rod broke on a fish weighing no more than 7lbs. Plenty out there that have boat flipped heavier bass on lighter rods without issue.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks. A fee replacement would be excellent because nobody wants to have to deal with shipping a rod back ?

Yikes, entitlement much?

It's a Lews.  They brake.

No more than any other rod.

Nope, When a rod snaps into 3 or more pieces, it failed due to exceeding it's designed tensile strength, makes a great sound too, We get blanks to test, and we purposely torture them to failure, or try to, some of the South Korean ones are being manufactured where they make Iron Man's suit I think...

And when this happens, the fractures are fully irregular by the collapse between the fiber-resin mesh complex.

hopefully you never need to cancel your internet provider..

if its anything like a tv provider, you just stop paying until they cancel for you.

and yeah that rod broke when it should have, if its in warranty you can message them and see, your decision.

No, I have high speed video somewhere, let me see if I can find it. The reason it breaks in multiple places is because of the recoil of the first break, which could not generate enough energy if it failed prematurely.

Most of the time when a rod breaks,  it's operator error but boat flipping a 7lb fish, not sure how it wouldn't break.

I do the best I can to net the big ones. I have lost fish right at the boat and after a few it gets expensive when you're fishing in a tournament.

I've boat flipped em over 6#. Heavy rod, short line, had the fish heading in the right direction, NO HIGH STICKING!!! If I had broken my rod, I'd have went and bought a new one instead of expecting the manufacturer to pay for my stupidity.

If a manufacturer offers a replacement policy at a fee, which I don’t know if Lews does or not, are you guys saying you wouldn’t take advantage of that?

I never have. Mainly due to the fact that the rods I HAVE broken have been completely my fault.

The other reasons are partly because I don't feel right expecting a discount because of my own carelessness, and partly because I don't like messing with shipping things back.

Ive had reels that had issues right off the bat that I contacted customer service (magnets falling out of sideplates or other issues right out of the box,... but that's about it.

Replacement policy, sure, but I wouldn't expect or ask them to warranty it. When I broke a Sierra, I called Dobyn's, told them it was my fault and purchased a replacement at their discounted rate, which really isn't a discount IMO as you pay for it with the initial purchase. Their rods are nice, but they're pretty steep for what they are. I'd prefer rod makers offer either no warranty or a very short one, and pass the cost savings down to we consumers. If a rod's gonna break due to a defect it's gonna happen the first time you load it most likely.

I think sometimes people just misuse the word warranty for replacement policy and then people get really angry about It. Lol

Welp took a couple weeks but Lew's gave me a gift code for the original cost of the rod, $110. Only cost me $6 in tax to have a new one sent to me. I went for the 6'10" this time for a wee bit more power. Thanks Lew's for taking care of your customers! No more high sticking, screw carrying around a net ?
