endless Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 My transducer broken and wonder how can I fix it. I tried super glue which held for a while, than I tried epoxy which seem to work but I thought maybe finding something like JB Weld. If I use JB Weld will that effect my readings?? Or what can I use for like a molding? By the way the wiring is fine. just the transducer broke. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 12, 2010 Super User Posted August 12, 2010 JB weld sometimes fixes them for good sometimes it doesn't hold. If you have room drill a little hole in each of the broken parts and JB a pin in as well as the two pieces together. It won't have any effect on the funtion of the xducer. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 12, 2010 Super User Posted August 12, 2010 A good quality two part epoxy should work. Take the transducer off of the boat if at all possible. Mix the epoxy as per the manufacturers directions. Smear it on both pieces. Let it get a little tacky before you stick the two ends together. Lay it sideways on a flat surface so there is no tension on the new joint. Let it dry "completely." There should be some time frame on the tubes as to the dry to touch time and the complete dry time. Just remember, you get what you pay for in most cases. Buy a good glue. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 12, 2010 Super User Posted August 12, 2010 If you are unsuccessful in getting it together, Transducer Shield and Saver has a mount to utillize a broken transom type for TM use. Quote
endless Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Jig Man- I'm giving your ideal a shot. I use a nail as my pin. Epoxy the two transducer pieces together with JB Weld around the outside. SoFlaBassAddict- Yea I use epoxy last time it held seemingly good. I think somebody either bumped it and grab my transducer and broke it off again. Wayne P- Transducer shield and saver? Where can I get this if my problem keeps up? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 13, 2010 Super User Posted August 13, 2010 endless, just do a web search for Transducer Shield and Saver. They sell direct and their products are the same price at retailers. They are not cheap and are well built. The company may custom make a transom mount for your broken transducer, just ask. Three Rivers Marine Electronics carries their products. Quote
