I have a bunch of rapala DTs Bombers Storm cranks etc that I bought too many of on sale. Have a buddy at work that could use a selection of baits. Since most are new out of box I was thinking 2-4 bucks each depending on the bait with a few maybe valued under 2. I won’t be making any money on this, but want to minimize my losses too. He mostly needs some deep divers and just an assortment of lures.

I think overall my price point seems fair or am I off one way or the other.

I would look at how much they are new and beat that price by about a dollar each.

Is it a good coworker or a bad coworker? ?

I mean, if it's a good friend, I would just give them to him for free. It might pay off in more than the money some day.

Does he have a boat?  Does he take co workers fishing in his boat?  If the answer is yes, than give him the crankbaits for free.

He does have a boat but we usually take mine. He is still in the bebinning stages of learning. I can be clueless many days;)

I never ask for anything nor have I ever had anyone kick in anything for gas etc. when I take them out. That said I don’t mind at all since it gets me out on the water.

Did he ask for some or offer to buy some of them from you? If so, I think the prices you are mentioning seem fair.

If it's a buddy, I think I'd be more likely to just give a friend a few, or another option would be to give some of my used or open stuff and keep the new ro replace.

Your call though! It's your stuff and you are obviously not trying to gouge your buddy. The local bait shop has a table with used or closeout surplus baits and everything is $2 a piece. Sounds like the prices you mentioned for new stuff is more than fair.

If it were a handful I might do that, I am looking at maybe 20 to 30 baits. I did give a few to the father in law but a bit different situation there as they do stuff for us too.

When talking before he left on vacation he mentioned not having a lot of baits to fish the way he wants so I figured I would offer the option to help him stock up at better than Black Friday deals. Also would let him choose obviously. Maybe put them in a box marked by price each.

Ok,.. That makes sense. I'm with you then.

He's looking for some extra baits and you've got some extra you don't need. As I said before,.. I think the prices you were mentioning were more than fair!!

Yeah, $2 is good. I just know when someone makes me a deal like that, it's a totally different thing. When someone gives me something, even like a bag of worms, it means a lot more than the price of a bag of worms. I'm like eternally grateful. I don't know why. I guess these days when you feel like you're getting shafted everywhere, it's really refreshing for someone to be nice enough to give you something for free.

See I feel the same about someone selling me a bunch of good cranks for 2-4 bucks a piece. I’m always really grateful when people give me great deals on quality stuff they don’t use anymore, I almost feel better about it that way, they helped me out and gave me a good deal and in return they got some cash and some clutter out of the way.

I think you are over thinking this, have him pick out the ones he wants and charge him what you actually paid for them minus $5 for the lot.
