FrnkNsteen Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Got a strange question for everyone. Hoping someone had the same and can offer advice. Wanted to order a second Alphas SV and also noticed they have SLX MGL71 in 6.3 gear ratio. Couldn't remember my password so I hit "Forgot Password" and entered my email address. It says it sent a password reset email to my address, but never received anything from them. Checked spam, junkmail and trash folders thinking it may have got caught there, but nothing. Any ideas or suggestions? Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 Before I retired earlier this year I worked on a system that included a password reset function that sent emails like you described. We constantly got calls from the help desk concerning people who where not getting password reset emails. Sometimes something would be down on our side. The most common cause was the emails went into the spam folder. The second most common cause was that the person used a different email than they remembered using to create the account. Occasionally, the person’s email service provider just didn’t like our email server and would block all of our emails. This usually happened with foreign users or people using their work email and the company had strict filters in place. An email from Asia would be more likely to get blocked by a spam filter. It could just be that their email server went down. Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted July 17, 2022 Author Posted July 17, 2022 Thanks! Problem is what to do with it being a foreign site. I've checked all the folders, and even tried it again making sure the email address was right that is tied to my Paypal account used to pay. No luck. Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 In addition to 14-hr +/- time difference, Asian Portal has to forward e-mails to a contract interpreter. Patience. Quote

Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 Have you tried hitting the “Forgot Password” button again? 1 Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted July 17, 2022 Author Posted July 17, 2022 Just now, Tennessee Boy said: Have you tried hitting the “Forgot Password” button again? Yep,... I've tried it a few times and haven't gotten anything back on any of them. Hate to not be able to order from them if I can't get it resolved, but worst case, I guess there are other vendors. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 I would suggest trying to create a new account with the same email address to see if it will let you do it and to see if you get an email from them. 1 Quote

Great minds think alike! ? I tried that and it tells me that email account already exists and stops me. 1 1 Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 Can you tell me who is your email service provider? For example, is it gmail, yahoo, etc. Quote
Super User bulldog1935 Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 Find your passwords on your browser settings - it will be there. Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 I just requested a password reset from Asian Portal. I got an email in less than 5 seconds. My email system flagged the email as failing anti-phishing checks. That’s pretty common but your email provider might block emails that don’t pass DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance) standards which Asian Portal apparently does not. Email providers like gmail do not strictly block these emails. Private companies, government, and educational institution email systems are much more strict. 1 Quote
Cbump Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 I would create another account at this point. Or check out as a guest if that’s an option (may not be). Quote

I was having an interesting conversation with someone about why it's so easy to empty folks bank accounts. Reminds me of when a Mercedes would pull up to the Tennis shop, and 5 guys step out and would buy all the Fila and Ellese warm ups we had in their size, and they would pay with bills $20 and smaller... ironbjorn Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Why not just create another account using another email? Quote

I don't save any passwords anywhere, so they shouldn't be saved in browser history. As for creating new account under a different email,... I thought Paypal was one of the only options for paying, and my email tied to it is the one not working Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted July 17, 2022 Super User Posted July 17, 2022 I just created an account on Asian Portal with a yahoo email address that I haven’t used in 15 years. I then did a forgot password request and I have not received the email and it is not in the spam folder. I think we found the guilty party. Yahoo is blocking these emails from Asian Portal. At some point AP may realize that they need to make some changes to their email system. I suggest you create a gmail account and use that. You do not have to use the same email address as your PayPal account. 1 Quote

Also good to know I could create a new account with a new email and it doesn't have to match Paypal. I will try that! Quote
The Bassman Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 FWIW I just stick with Digitaka. Great prices and no "handling fee" like AP. They have both reels that you mentioned, too. Current exchange rate is crazy good. 2 1 Quote
