This is new at icast. Trying to get info. Supposed to be 500$. Has P2 pinion and a new style magnetic brake. Looking for other specs. It's not on the website yet.

Tournament Pro LFS or BB1 Pro LFS are great reel in your range.

If this is the one I heard about last year, you can order the Doyo version (exact same reel) for $225 - $250 from Korea.  It looks like a new Zillion and an Antares 70A offspring.  It actually pretty cool looking.

I got the Tournament Pro LFS when Sportsman's Warehouse had them on sale for $150.  Still sits in its box along with several other reels I haven't had out yet.

How have they made a reel that’s $300 better than the Tournament Pro LFS?

B.S. - they haven’t.

Niether does any other manufacturer.

I'm not schilling out 500$ for a doyo reel, and I'm pretty sure this model looks identical to the kdm doyo reel for like 299, minus the silly handles

Good, I've had no problems with any of my Lew's since switching over to them. I think I'll pay the mark up to avoid that handle though.

Shame we lost new content on his channel.

That's for sure. He sort of faded away after he chucked the Steez LTD across his table. Now all we're left with is the distance casting Shimano monkey who changes only one spool bearing for tests. Oy.

But it's a mag brake, Dodge. Will you need to see a therapist first??

That doyo is the most customized ordering process I've ever seen for a reel.  You choose gear ratio, handle assembly (8 choices), spool (deep, shallow, super shallow).  You can add all the spools if you want...and a spare handle(s).

Looks like a centrifugal mag brake.

I'm not sure he ever announced that's where he was going, but it seems to be the consensus on SOL and elsewhere. Shame we lost new content on his channel.

So wait a minute,.... Are you guys saying Scooby is TackleAdvisors?

I wasn't aware of that, but I do enjoy TackleAdvisors videos and noticed there hasn't been any new content in some time.

I also agree with the comment about the cast testing Shimano fanboy. Got tired of his videos trashing everything but Shimano and acting like distance is the only factor. Don't get me wrong... I like the Shimanos I have. But it just got tiring and there ARE other good reels.

Always been a lew fan and prefer their rods to others but after owning several Lews pro ti reels I wasn’t a huge fan honestly. It’s clunky and not as smooth as the say the shimano metanium which is in the same price category nowadays. Sold all but one pro ti and switched to metaniums.  I am curious how this new one stacks up but seeing it’s a rebadge doyo I don’t have high hopes! It does look good but at the price point I’ve seen it better be much better then the previous version to be worth it .

I want the Hyperspeed even though I have no need for a reel that fast and the new Pro TI looks slick. That elite doesn't look to shabby either. They have pics up oin their website now.

I’m drooling over the elite and pro.

People who read the word Distance as fishing 50 yds out are seeing the right word, but reading the wrong one.  It should be like reading the word Fast about a kayak.

Sometimes you need the absolute cast range or boat speed, but most often about a kayak, you should read the word Fast as Efficient - you can put in a 10-mi day.

No one is ever going to say my tackle casts too far - they may say it doesn't cast far enough. What you gain with the ability to cast greater distance is Less Effort to cast, and that means greater control, accuracy, and reliability.

The trend in baitcast reels is lower-mass, lower-inertia spools, which spin faster, thereby cast farther, and respond better to lower brake settings.  We see the trend in Okuma Hakai, and Mg-spool reels such as Shimano and ZPI Alcance (Doyo).  I tried Lou's SP for ML niche, and after setting it up, discovered that it couldn't match the 1/8 oz distance of Super Duty, no matter how it was set up.

It's positive to see Lew's moving in this direction.  They sell a solid reel that's built to keep fishing.  Jury will be out on the new brake, how it affects spool mass, and how it handles wide lure weight ranges.

Sorry to hear Tackle Advisor's YouTube channel is inactive.  He's the only guy who rates reels from the inside out, rather than how they look in stealth grey videos.

It looks like the actual brake is attached to the cover and not the spool which would make for a really light spool.

  • Thanks 1
