I haven't, but this morning did notice St Croix is releasing a rod with something similar. I would love to hear anyone that has tried it out. I could see it being helpful for people that lack grip strength or have wrist issues. I do have wrist issues and if this would cut down on fatigue a bit that would be great for those week long fishing trips, especially if this would work on a spinning rod.

Not for me. I've got a friend that was into the handle knob covers like those. Tried them and didn't like them.

If anything I have modified rods to remove material and make the trigger less prominant, not add to them

Yeah, that is what I was getting at. Most conventional salt water rods (like a big BC) have no trigger at all, just a straight grip.

Well, to be fair, salt guys aren't making a couple thousand casts every day with big conventional reels and rods.

If so, you'd see the "GRASP COASTAL" being released. ?

I have a bone spur on one of my fingers making the grip against a hard plastic trigger uncomfortable. I now have trigger happy grips on all 15 of my baitcasting rods. I ordered black, very few have even noticed them on my rods...I'm not a bling kinda guy.  A couple guys I fish with regularly (that don't have arthritis issues) noticed them and ended up ordering some themselves and really seem to like them too.. so there you go ~

I have the spinning version on all my reels. Makes a big difference with arthritic fingers and (at least for me) doesn't get in the way or affect feel.

How "sticky" are they?

I'm a hand switcher (cast right handed and reel right handed). I'm wondering if they will "grab" my skin as I'm swapping back and forth?

I don't think they are, I don't even remember they're on anymore... until I switch to a different rod without them, then the bone spur starts to bark again..

I use the spinning version. Seems to help knuckle joint pain, especially if you grip between the index and middle finger.

So do you think these would work on a spinning rod? I was thinking of putting it in front of the reel with the grip facing up so my index finger could rest on it. When setting the hook and fighting a fish that might help take some pressure off my wrist.

The grips are fairly flexible rubber so I’m not sure it would give you enough of a firm spot to rest your index finger on.

They do make grips for spinning rods that go over the stem of the reel. That way if you hold the rod with 2 fingers in front of the stem and 2 fingers behind (or 1 and 3) it provides cushion between the fingers. It might provide some additional stability for your wrist since it provides added thickness and maybe a little less “play” that could impact your wrist.

They’re not expensive and might be worth a try...

I palm the reel 100% of the time. Never hold the rod by the trigger grip.

I can understand that! I can see where that could make a difference. I had the same issue with a couple rods that had large triggers on them so I got the dremel out and removed some of it. Some are open in the center of the trigger though and don't allow it.

I'm not able to do this because I find it difficult to operate the free spool bar.  How do you manage to actuate the free spool bar while palming?

I have them on all my spinning and casting rods. I also have the grips on all my reels. After using both, will not have a combo without them, might be an old guy thing!!!
